Chapter 136. The Butcher, No. 3 (2)
“We have to keep that bastard from reaching the residential area no matter what.”
Yukgap repeated that one thought to himself.
No matter how low his intelligence might be, No. 3 was still an Archon capable of fighting an entire military unit by himself.
If he went on a rampage in quiet Jeongseon, Yukgap did not even want to imagine how many people might die.
“Where are you, No. 6?!”
“Come out already!”
No. 3 shouted at the top of his lungs while swinging his overtechnology longsword.
In the worst case, Yukgap decided he would lure him away himself.
He rushed toward him.
“Stop calling me that!”
“There you are!”
No. 3 grinned the moment he spotted Yukgap.
Yukgap glared at him in disbelief.
“Why the hell are you looking for the Philosopher’s Stone here?”
“This is just an ordinary mountain in Korea!”
“There’s no way something like that would be here!”
“Dunno.”
No. 3 shrugged.
“Alpha said it’s here.”
“So it’s here.”
Apparently, he had never once questioned or thought deeply about the mission he had been given.
It was blind obedience in its purest form.
What was Alpha thinking when she sent this idiot?
Yukgap could not understand her intentions at all.
No. 3 did not care.
He swung his longsword and charged like a tank.
“How long are you planning to keep running away?!”
Every swing sent shockwaves tearing across the area.
Graves shattered apart.
Dirt and fragments of burial mounds flew in every direction.
“That lunatic!”
No. 3 charged around without any regard for what was in front of him, drunk on his own strength like a child throwing a tantrum.
Was this really an Archon like him?
Yukgap almost felt embarrassed by the thought.
Then a broken gravestone sliced apart by No. 3’s sword landed near his feet.
Yukgap stepped back and glanced at it without thinking.
“Huh...?”
His face instantly stiffened.
One line carved into the stone pierced straight through his thoughts.
[Grave of Kim Changi]
“What... is this?”
Was it someone else with the same name?
If not, then whose grave was this?
An inexplicable sense of dread washed over him.
Normally, he would have ignored it.
But right now, those three characters carved into the gravestone seemed impossibly vivid.
“What are you staring at?!”
No. 3 did not miss the opening.
He leaped forward and swung his longsword.
A terrifying pain struck Yukgap as a bone-crushing shockwave smashed into his upper body.
“Ghk!”
Unable to withstand the impact, Yukgap crashed to the ground.
No. 3 immediately grabbed him by the back of the neck and grinned.
“Finally caught you!”
“Kahahahaha!”
“Let go!”
Yukgap struggled with all his strength, but he could not break free from No. 3’s grip.
No. 3 knew it too.
He openly mocked him.
“You Tracking Team bastards were always annoying because of those weird abilities.”
“You especially.”
“You were always such a pain because you were so damn fast.”
“Ghk...!”
The crushing strength around Yukgap’s throat slowly tightened.
He struggled to breathe.
No. 3 watched him with an amused grin.
“No. 6, you’re the fastest among us.”
“Flexible.”
“Springy.”
“Light.”
“Know what that means?”
“Like I care!”
“It means your durability is nowhere near ours.”
“The Tracking Team was designed weaker than the Extermination Team in exchange for all those specialized abilities.”
With that, No. 3 slammed Yukgap into the ground.
“Ghk!”
A harsh groan burst from Yukgap’s throat.
No. 3 was not satisfied.
Still gripping Yukgap by the neck, he repeatedly smashed him against the ground.
“When I’ve got you this close, that acceleration ability you’re so proud of is useless.”
“Right?”
“Ugh...!”
The impacts felt like his entire body was being crushed apart.
Yukgap could barely form words.
No. 3 was right.
As long as they remained in direct contact, Yukgap’s acceleration was useless.
“No. 6.”
“It’s time to go home.”
No. 3 raised his longsword high.
Apparently, he intended to beat Yukgap nearly to death and drag him away.
“Get away from Yukgap!”
A sharp shout rang out.
Victoria hurled herself at No. 3 with all her strength.
“W-What?!”
No. 3 had been so focused on Yukgap that the surprise attack knocked him off balance.
He rolled sideways.
Victoria glared at him, breathing hard.
“Victoria?”
Yukgap stared at her in disbelief.
“Why are you still here?”
“Don’t worry.”
“I left your sister somewhere safe!”
“That’s not the point!”
Yukgap shouted.
“Why didn’t you run?!”
Victoria immediately shouted back.
“How was I supposed to leave you alone?”
“I could’ve handled him by myself!”
“Don’t make me laugh!”
“You were getting beaten into the ground before I showed up!”
“It wasn’t that bad!”
While the two bickered, No. 3 got back on his feet and charged with his sword.
“Did you forget about me because you were busy flirting with the pretty girl?!”
Shockwaves ripped through the air.
Victoria hurriedly supported Yukgap and pulled him backward.
“Yukgap, can you recover?”
