Chapter 175. Escape, or Charge Forward (3)
“W-What is that?!”
No. 10 stumbled backward at the sight of the bag suddenly appearing in front of him, flashing ominous red lights.
Victoria let out a sinister laugh and shouted proudly,
“Now, my creation!”
“Go wild to your heart’s content!”
“Wahahahaha!”
The moment she gave the order, mechanical legs shot out from the bag.
At the same time, gun barrels emerged and began firing indiscriminately at No. 10.
[Eliminate! Eliminate! Eliminate!]
Flames burst in every direction through clouds of smoke.
But No. 10 only snorted.
“That won’t work on me!”
He straightened his back.
Then his overtechnology weapon, carbon-fiber reinforced armor, surged outward and instantly wrapped around his entire body.
Every bullet fired at him struck the armor and ricocheted harmlessly away.
“What are you trying to do?”
“No. 10 has the strongest defense of all the Archons!”
“You can’t stop him with something like that!”
Yukgap hurriedly shouted.
Victoria merely smiled in satisfaction.
“I know.”
“But it’s more than enough to buy us time.”
Yukgap frowned.
“What?”
“What do you mean?”
“Now!”
“Run!”
Victoria immediately sprinted toward the elevator.
Only then did Yukgap understand what she was doing.
She had never intended for the money bag to defeat No. 10.
She only wanted it to pin him down for a few moments.
“You bastards!”
“Where do you think you’re going?!”
No. 10 realized it too and roared as he gave chase.
But the bag continued unleashing every weapon it had, keeping him occupied.
[Eliminate! Eliminate! Eliminate!]
“Ghh! Why is this thing so persistent?!”
He struggled against the relentless bag.
Taking advantage of the opening, Yukgap, Victoria, and Nova rushed into the elevator.
Victoria pressed the button for the highest floor.
Only after the doors closed did she finally sigh in relief.
“Phew.”
“That was close.”
Yukgap watched the floor numbers rise rapidly.
“So where exactly are we going?”
Nova quietly analyzed the situation.
“According to the advertisements, the briefing sessions are held on the tenth floor.”
“Server rooms are usually located close to meeting rooms.”
“Given the structure of this building, there’s a high chance the core information is stored either above or below it.”
“Ninth or eleventh floor.”
Yukgap quickly summarized.
Nova immediately added,
“Either Victoria or I has to be there if we want to access the information.”
“We’re the only ones who can hack Abraxas’s computer systems.”
She was right.
Without either Victoria or Nova, breaking into Abraxas’s systems would be practically impossible.
Yukgap glanced at Victoria.
“What do you want to do?”
“I’ll take the ninth floor alone.”
“You two go to the eleventh.”
Victoria answered immediately.
Yukgap looked concerned.
“You’ll be okay by yourself?”
“I’m a supreme genius beauty and an alchemist.”
“This much is nothing.”
“Instead, protect Nova.”
Yukgap nodded heavily at her request.
“I’ll protect her no matter what.”
The elevator soon stopped at the ninth floor.
Victoria hurried out and waved to them.
“Then let’s finish this and meet up again.”
Nova answered quietly,
“Yeah.”
“See you later.”
The doors closed.
Victoria disappeared from sight.
Maybe it was only her imagination.
But for some reason, Nova suddenly felt as though they would not be able to keep that promise.
Nova and Yukgap soon reached the eleventh floor as well.
When the elevator doors opened, a dark hallway stretched before them.
Nova cautiously asked,
“What do you think?”
Yukgap sharpened his animal senses and swept the entire area.
But he could not detect anyone.
“No one’s here.”
“Looks like the entire eleventh floor is vacant.”
The two carefully stepped out of the elevator.
There was not even a single emergency light.
The entire floor was swallowed in darkness.
As they crossed the corridor, Yukgap could not shake his sense of unease.
“This is strange.”
“There’s no one here.”
“There aren’t even any CCTV cameras.”
“It practically screams that they’re hiding something.”
Nova urged him onward, feeling strangely impatient.
“Let’s search quickly and then join Victoria.”
Maybe the eleventh floor really was empty.
If so, the place they needed might be on the ninth floor instead.
Because of the ominous feeling she had just experienced, Nova wanted to get back to Victoria as soon as possible.
“Hm?”
Yukgap suddenly stopped.
Nova immediately grew nervous.
“What is it?”
“Someone’s here.”
Yukgap growled low after saying it.
Nova asked fearfully,
“Who?”
“Possibly the worst person we could have run into.”
Yukgap stared into empty space.
Then, beyond the darkness, a brown-skinned woman with green eyes slowly appeared.
