Chapter 91

Chapter 91, Records

In the end, I returned home without resolving the problem.

It was probably something we wouldn't be able to solve for a while.

To gain something through the Swallowing Mimic, we would need to place it somewhere containing Mysteries or objects related to them.

But that wasn't easy.

If it was somewhere we could reach ourselves, then there was no real point in placing the Mimic there.

We could just go there and take the Mystery directly.

To properly benefit from it, we would have to secretly place it somewhere inhabited by a mid-sized faction or larger.

And to do that, we would first need to search for such a place.

Searching naturally required time and resources.

And even if we succeeded in finding somewhere suitable, that still wouldn't solve everything.

The Swallowing Mimic swallowed materials around it.

We already had more than enough of most resources, so there wasn't much we needed.

If there was anything, it was Mysteries.

And there was no way factions would store Mysteries somewhere easy to steal.

They would probably keep them somewhere with strict security.

Sneaking the Mimic into a place like that?

If we had enough freedom to do that, it would probably be better to simply break in and steal the Mystery ourselves.

There was one method that came to mind for using it properly.

Using a portal to another world.

“But that's way too dependent on luck.”

The destination beyond a naturally formed portal was random.

More precisely, the space you were transported to was random, not merely the location inside a connected space.

The space itself wasn't fixed.

A portal connected to the ocean one second could be connected to the sky the next.

If I carelessly threw the Mimic into something like that and it landed inside the stomach of some gigantic monster, or in a pool of volcanic lava, then I would have simply thrown away a Mystery.

And even if I jumped through the portal every second to check where it led, the connected destination would immediately change again.

It was a problem with no real solution.

Maybe I could try it later if I obtained a luck-related Mystery.

With that conclusion, we moved past the issue and turned to the next problem.

“What should we do with this?”

Lee Yeonhee lightly poked a woman's body with her hand.

A woman with smooth, long golden hair.

Dorothy's body.

Dorothy had her eyes closed as though she were deeply asleep.

At the moment, she was in a state similar to a vegetative state.

Her body was fine, but only her mind had died.

If we simply left her like this, she would eventually die.

And since Dorothy might possess another resurrection-related Mystery, we couldn't allow that.

Fortunately, this problem was easily solved.

We decided Eriel would continuously supply her with divine power.

“Then there's only one final issue. We obtained so many Mysteries during this trip that I think we need to establish some standards and organize them together with the ones we already had.”

“Organize them?”

“Yes. Including what we obtained this time, we currently possess almost seventy Mysteries. I think we should prepare a separate space and arrange them differently according to certain standards.”

“Wow, we own seventy Mysteries?”

“If we combine the ones from the supermarket, the Backrooms, the Company, the Order, the ones everyone found separately while exploring, and what we obtained this time, it comes out to around that number.”

Lee Yeonhee spoke while looking at a sheet of paper Eriel had written.

We had acquired seventy Mysteries so far.

The number shocked me, but thinking back on everything we had gone through, it also made sense.

“We can't rely on Oppa's bag forever. And besides organizing them, I think we should leave individual records for every Mystery too.”

“Was that Eriel's suggestion?”

“Yes. She said it's about time we started preparing.”

As I watched them talk, I remembered what Eriel had said earlier.

It had been just after we returned home, before we gathered to organize what we had obtained and exchange opinions.

Eriel had looked pleased and proud when she saw all the Mysteries we had gained from this incident.

But she had also left us with a warning.

“It's about time a Mystery Devourer started appearing around us.”

“Yes. We've already been close to the threshold several times, but after obtaining so many Mysteries this time, we've clearly crossed it. We should prepare.”

Scq871, Mystery Devourer.

Apparently, its original name was Memory Devourer, but its alias, Mystery Devourer, was far more famous.

Eriel said that in order to prepare for it, we needed to record our Mysteries and make sure we remembered them.

“Then the records...”

“I'll handle them. I have Lucy, after all. And I don't really have anything else to do.”

“All right. Then Oppa will handle that. Should we end the meeting here?”

“Yeah, let's finish already. We started this meeting as soon as we got back, so I haven't even had time to rest. I want to relax in my room.”

I nodded at Hwa-ryeon's words, and we soon ended the meeting.

Everyone returned to their respective worlds through the books to rest.

Only Lee Yeonhee remained.

As I was about to leave as well, she approached me.

“Oppa, would you like me to help you record the Mysteries? There are quite a lot...”

“Thank you, but it's fine. And you have training to do too, Yeonhee.”

Lee Yeonhee had only gone to the exhibition because I called her.

Before that, she had been spending all of her time training.

I told her not to worry about me and to focus on the training she had already been doing.

Lee Yeonhee nodded and started walking away.

Just before returning to her own world, she raised her right hand and called out quietly.

“G, good luck!”

Then, with her face slightly flushed, she hurried back toward the training grounds.

Her cute behavior made me feel strangely healed.

She's a good person in all kinds of ways.

Thanks to the divine power she had given me on the way home, my body was also full of energy.

Only my mind was slightly tired.

At this level, I could start working immediately.

I took out a blank book and began writing down every Mystery possessed by my companions.

There was nothing difficult about making the records.

I only needed to open Lucy and copy down the Mysteries and their descriptions exactly as written.

After spending several hours completely absorbed in copying them, the Gallery and its users suddenly came to mind.

Along with that...

The wish they constantly shouted whenever they saw me.

└Ideal version of the Gallery Master's Gallery)

└Information about Mysteries posted every day.

└Clues about the world, information about the setting, or things that let us speculate about the setting.

└Posts summarizing his exciting journeys.

└Damn, that'd be insane.

└For real, if Gallery Master just did that, every day would be happiness.

└Gallery Master actually behaves like that? Instant deification, let's go.

The reason the Gallery users praised me and worshiped me as the Gallery Master, despite the Gallery containing a True Immortal, a Life-and-Death Realm martial artist, an Archmage, and even gods.

There was only one reason.

Information about unknown worlds and the elements that made them up.

If I had to summarize it in one word, it would be Mysteries.

They went crazy over Mysteries, things they didn't know and couldn't understand.

Even now, if I entered the Gallery, it was full of people yelling at me to reveal more information about Mysteries.

As I looked through those posts, an idea came to mind.

I'm already recording and organizing information about Mysteries anyway.

Why not post the same information in the Gallery while I'm at it?

It would be a little troublesome for me, but thinking about everything the Gallery users had given me so far, I could do something like this any number of times.

Even when the demon descended, if it hadn't been for the Gallery users, I would've had no choice but to regress.

Compared to that, what was a little extra work?

It was so simple that it barely even counted as hardship.

Thinking it was a pretty good idea, I began writing information about the Mysteries into both the book and the Gallery at the same time.

“...Ugh. I'm stiff.”

After staying up all night writing, I only finished around noon the next day.

I had spent more than twenty hours sitting in one place and doing nothing but writing.

I could definitely feel that my body had already surpassed the limits of an ordinary human.

Aside from being slightly stiff, there was no discomfort or pain anywhere.

My head was a little tired, but that was nothing a short nap couldn't fix.

I checked the completed record book one final time and placed it on the table.

After organizing everything, the amount was considerable.

I alone possessed seventy-three Mysteries.

And for the Gallery users, I hadn't only written down the Mysteries I owned.

I had recorded every Mystery written in Lucy.

That meant the number of Mystery names I had written was close to two hundred.

This should make the Gallery users pretty happy, right?

Thinking that, I lay down on the bed to sleep.

I turned off the lights.

Just before closing my eyes, I opened the Gallery and uploaded the finished post.

Expecting a decent response, I closed my eyes.

My consciousness gradually sank, and just as deep sleep began welcoming me...

Ding. Ding ding. D-ding. Dingdingdingdingdingdingding...

Notifications from the Gallery began ringing like crazy.

Annoyed, I turned off the notifications and went to sleep.

Later, when I opened my eyes, what greeted me was the number of comments I hadn't read.

[Summary of the Mysteries I've Encountered So Far (10,837)]

But...

There was something strange about that number.
