Chapter 16

I Became the Loan Shark Queen’s Grandson!

Chapter 16

After leaving the coffee shop, I got into the car Uncle Kim Dong-su was driving.

A strange tension filled the inside of the car.

I hesitated for a moment before speaking.

“Uncle.”

He glanced toward me.

There was a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

I carefully asked,

“About Ms. Kim So-jeong...”

I trailed off briefly and watched his reaction.

Uncle waited silently for me to continue.

I carefully spoke again.

“Why did she serve an actual prison sentence?”

After asking, I carefully watched his reaction.

The hand Uncle had on the steering wheel suddenly tightened.

His expression also darkened noticeably.

Several complicated emotions mixed across his face.

He pressed his lips together and kept his eyes on the road.

After a while, he answered in a low voice.

“You really can’t judge people by how they look.”

He took a short breath.

He seemed reluctant to continue.

I stayed silent and waited.

“Her husband cheated on her...”

Uncle paused.

The car fell into heavy silence again.

I swallowed unconsciously.

My heartbeat slowly quickened as I waited for what came next.

He finally continued.

“That night, while her husband was sleeping...”

Then he suddenly stopped.

For a moment, I almost forgot to breathe.

After hesitating, Uncle quietly finished.

“Apparently, she cut off his... very important part with scissors.”

A chill ran down the back of my neck.

It felt like the temperature inside the car had dropped several degrees.

Uncle said nothing more.

Heavy silence pressed down on us.

I repeated one thought inside my head.

Women really aren’t people you should judge by appearances alone.

I turned my head and looked out the window again.

The car reached the area near the officetel where Park Dong-sik’s mistress lived.

The karaoke bar tout who had been waiting nearby recognized our car.

He immediately walked over and knocked on the window.

I slowly lowered it.

The tout greeted me lightly and spoke in a low voice.

“Hyungnim, Park Dong-sik is inside the officetel right now.”

At that moment, the entrance door opened.

It was malicious debtor Park Dong-sik.

Even in broad daylight, he walked out without the slightest concern.

He calmly looked around and crossed the road.

Uncle Kim Dong-su quickly looked at me.

“Should we grab him now?”

The tout also cautiously watched me.

I slowly shook my head.

There was no need to rush.

“Even if we catch him now and demand the money, he’s not the kind of man who’ll hand it over.”

After a short pause, I added coldly,

“We need to corner him properly first. Then there won’t be anywhere for him to run.”

I ended the subject there.

The truth was, I still hadn’t even called Park Dong-sik once.

There was no reason to pressure him too quickly.

No reason to contact him in a hurry.

A brief silence passed.

I looked at the tout again.

“How’s the nightlife district these days?”

“Business is incredible lately. There are customers everywhere.”

He glanced around.

Then lowered his voice slightly.

“But there aren’t enough girls to entertain them.”

He made a subtle expression before continuing.

“Honestly, business could be even better if we had enough women. That’s the biggest problem right now.”

I lightly nodded.

The tout laughed awkwardly as he watched my expression.

“These days, even women in their thirties get treated like young ladies.”

After a short pause, he hurriedly added,

“I’m not joking, Hyungnim.”

His words made me think of Lin.

Her clean yet sophisticated appearance flashed through my mind.

At the moment, I was thinking about using Lin as a connection to establish a multinational karaoke bar and an international marriage brokerage office.

To be honest, I wasn’t really deciding whether to do it.

I was deciding when.

I wasn’t a good person.

I had no intention of pretending to be one.

If something made money, I would do it.

That was the kind of bad man I was.

“Hyungnim, actually, the karaoke bar where I work is up for sale.”

He carefully studied my face.

I silently looked at him.

He hesitated before adding,

“The price isn’t too bad... so I thought you might be interested.”

I watched him for a moment before quietly taking out my wallet.

I pulled out a one-hundred-thousand-won check and handed it to him.

The tout’s face instantly brightened.

A wide smile spread over his face as if the darkness had disappeared.

His smile reflected brightly in the side window.

He happily pocketed the money and bowed repeatedly.

As I watched him put it away, I spoke again.

This time, my voice was firm and commanding.

“Starting today, follow Park Dong-sik.”

The smile immediately vanished from his face.

His expression became serious.

I lowered my voice.

“Park Dong-sik is a credit delinquent, so his actual residence is unclear.”

The tout quickly nodded.

His eyes sharpened.

After a breath, I looked directly at him.

“First, confirm exactly where he lives. Understand?”

Then I added more firmly,

“Do not lose sight of him even for a moment.”

The tout nodded strongly.

“Don’t worry, Hyungnim. I’ll handle it right away.”

There was real determination in his eyes.

I gave him a small smile as if I trusted him.

Then I slowly raised the window.

From inside the car, I watched him quickly follow Park Dong-sik.

I let out a light breath.

Everything was slowly moving in the direction I wanted.

Then it happened.

Park Dong-sik’s well-dressed mistress also came out of the officetel.

She disappeared somewhere.

I immediately got out of the car.

In front of the officetel door where Park Dong-sik’s mistress lived.

I took out a photograph of malicious debtor Park Dong-sik entering a hotel room with his divorced ex-wife.

I slowly ran my finger over the photograph.

For a moment, I thought.

Then I firmly taped it right in the center of the front door.

The image was clear.

Impossible to miss.

Uncle, who was watching beside me, asked in surprise.

His expression was clearly uneasy.

“Is it really okay to go this far?”

His voice trembled slightly.

I slowly turned toward him.

He cautiously continued.

“Isn’t this... a little dangerous?”

He nervously glanced around.

He looked worried someone might be watching.

In a low voice, he asked again,

“What if they make this a legal issue later?”

Concern filled his eyes.

His hands trembled slightly from nervousness.

I calmly watched him.

Then answered in a steady voice.

“First, we need some shock treatment.”

I looked directly into his eyes.

Uncle avoided my gaze and lowered his head slightly.

I continued in a low, clear tone.

“With something like this, speed is the answer.”

He still didn’t look convinced.

Concern remained on his face.

After taking a breath, I explained further.

“The other person has to feel that their situation is dangerous before they’ll move. Otherwise, they’ll keep holding out.”

I strengthened my voice.

“Sometimes you need a bold method like this, Uncle.”

I carefully watched his expression again.

There was still hesitation in his eyes.

To ease his concern, I softened my tone.

“I’m not doing this just to scare her. I calculated everything before acting.”

Uncle stared at me silently.

Doubt still remained in his gaze.

I wanted to reduce his anxiety.

So I spoke firmly.

“If this causes a problem, I’ll take responsibility for it. Don’t worry too much.”

I maintained a calm expression.

“Right now, putting the truth directly in front of her will be much more effective than wasting time.”

I spoke even more firmly.

Two hours passed.

After finishing her shopping, Park Dong-sik’s mistress returned to the officetel.

Several large shopping bags hung from both hands.

Something good must have happened because she looked very cheerful.

She came up in the elevator and stepped into the hallway.

The light, cheerful sound of her heels echoed through the quiet corridor.

She soon reached her front door.

That was when she saw it.

The photograph taped right in the center.

Her smile disappeared instantly.

“What... is this?”

In shock, she dropped the shopping bags.

They struck the floor with a dull thud.

With trembling hands, she violently ripped the photo from the door.

The tape tore with a sharp sound.

When she looked at the photo properly, she screamed.

“What the hell... Who put this here?!”

Her voice shook with terror.

Her eyes trembled violently.

Her entire body stiffened.

Then a calm voice came from behind her.

“Were you surprised?”

She screamed sharply and spun around.

Uncle Kim Dong-su and I were standing there, silently watching her.

The moment she saw us, she took a frightened step backward.

I spoke carefully with a calm expression.

“Ms. Chae Song-hwa, could we talk for a moment?”

She flinched again.

Our eyes met directly.

[Chae Song-hwa]

Current Assets: 720 million won
(Owns 300 million won in Samjeong Electronics stock)

Current Loans: 12 million won in credit card debt

Repayment Ability: 100%

Monthly Repayable Amount: Over 100 million won

Trustworthiness: 93%

Wow.

It was 1996, yet she already had more than seven hundred million won in assets.

And she owns three hundred million won worth of Samjeong Electronics stock.

But how much had Park Dong-sik actually given his mistress?

There’s no way he gave her all seven hundred million.

I slowly studied her.

For some reason, her eyes briefly froze when she looked at me.

Shock.

Caution.

And strangely enough, something like nervous excitement seemed to mix together.

I slowly took one more step toward her.

Her eyes grew even more uneasy.

Several emotions flashed across her face in an instant.

As if trying to reassure her, I spoke softly.

“Ms. Chae Song-hwa, could you spare us a little time?”

She swallowed.

Then asked in a trembling voice,

“Did you put that photo there?”

I nodded without hesitation.

“Yes.”

Her eyes widened.

Injustice and anger crossed her face at the same time.

She sharply asked,

“Why would you do something like this?”

Without becoming flustered, I answered calmly.

“You should be grateful to me.”

Chae Song-hwa glared at me as if she wanted to kill me.

Her expression was full of furious confusion.

I continued looking directly at her.

“Because Park Dong-sik has been completely deceiving you.”

She took a deep breath.

“Ah...”

I immediately followed up.

“Aren’t you curious how far Park Dong-sik’s lies actually go?”

She bit her lip as if hesitating.

Then finally looked at me.

“Let’s talk inside.”

One thing was certain.

Chae Song-hwa was furious with Park Dong-sik.
