Chapter 25

I Became the Loan Shark Queen’s Grandson!

Chapter 25

Yeongdeungpo.

Grandmother’s private lending office.

It was already well past evening, but the lights were still on.

“Taesan, I came as soon as you called.”

The investigation agency owner greeted me first.

His gaze was calm.

But curiosity was mixed into it.

Kim So-jeong also lowered her head slightly.

“I heard you went to Pangyo. I’m curious how things turned out.”

I took a breath and spoke.

“It’s confirmed. The husband really is the son of a mistress. His mother admitted it herself.”

I placed the documents on the desk.

“His family was completely cold toward him. The eldest brother was even more direct. He said, ‘Even if we let him inherit, the daughter-in-law will take everything and remarry. Why would we allow that?’”

Silence briefly filled the room.

We had expected it.

But confirmation felt different.

Kim So-jeong immediately responded.

“As expected. They’re rejecting him because he’s a mistress’s child, and they don’t trust the daughter-in-law because she’s young.”

She lightly touched her fingertips together.

Then added firmly,

“That’s why I said even a stone Buddha turns its back on a mistress’s child. The Pangyo family doesn’t see the husband as one of their own anymore. He’s just a name their father forced into the family registry.”

Uncle Kim Dong-su sighed and nodded.

“Then what do we do from here? Is there absolutely no chance the Pangyo family will support them?”

I answered immediately.

“Support them? None.”

I lowered my voice.

“If anything, they’re waiting for the husband to die.”

Then continued.

“But that’s exactly what gives us an opportunity. If they want him dead, they’ll probably try to alter the paperwork beforehand to avoid an inheritance dispute.”

My voice was cold and clear.

The board was already visible.

The investigation agency owner raised an eyebrow.

“By paperwork, you mean property records, family registry documents, wills, things like that?”

“Exactly. This family will definitely move. That means we need to move first. An inheritance share may be invisible, but the law recognizes it. I’m going to convert that share into money and recover the debt.”

Manager Park closed the file and spoke quietly.

“If we secure the share, this is no longer garbage debt. Pangyo land is a gold mine. Give it time and the value will multiply.”

I continued calmly.

“So the first step is simple. We investigate every property record connected to the Pangyo family, their financial movements, and the eldest brother’s asset structure. We’re not only looking at the inheritance share. We need to follow their entire money flow.”

The investigation agency owner nodded.

“That’s possible. With a few connections, I can pull every relevant property record in Pangyo. If land has been transferred into the eldest brother’s name, we’ll see it immediately.”

I turned toward Kim So-jeong.

“Ms. Kim So-jeong.”

She looked directly into my eyes.

“Yes.”

“Track the mother and eldest brother’s movements. Especially if either of them starts visiting hospitals, judicial scrivener offices, or notary offices. Report it immediately. That would mean they’re preparing inheritance documents or trying to manipulate paperwork.”

Kim So-jeong smiled briefly.

“That kind of work is what I’m best at. I once followed someone so closely that I even caught my husband cheating...”

Her expression hardened.

“I ended up in prison because of it, but I became very good at reading people’s movements.”

I gave a short nod.

“Good. Use those eyes on this case too.”

Uncle cautiously asked,

“Then what about Ms. Han Mi-suk? Her husband’s family abandoned them, and her husband is bedridden. Is there really a solution?”

I picked up the documents.

“There is. First, the life insurance under her husband’s name. Second, the inheritance share in the Pangyo land. Third, the debtor’s own trustworthiness. Connect all three, and this is no longer garbage debt.”

My voice rang low and firm.

“Other loan sharks try to extract money using a person’s life as collateral. I’m changing the method. I’ll recover the debt using trust and inheritance instead of someone’s life. That’s the difference.”

The room became quiet.

Everyone understood.

This wasn’t simple debt collection.

It was a battle of structure.

Kim So-jeong crossed her arms and nodded.

“Good. The colder a family is, the more openings they usually have. Once I start moving, something will come out.”

The investigation agency owner wrote in his notebook.

“We’ll immediately investigate the Pangyo family’s assets, the eldest brother’s activities, and the mother’s movements. Three directions. I’ll report every day.”

Manager Park added expressionlessly,

“Young Master Taesan, I bought every debt the other private lenders held against Han Mi-suk. All of her debt is now in our hands.”

I nodded firmly.

“Good. Now this is our game. The Pangyo family’s coldness will become the opportunity that lets us recover the debt.”

I looked around the room.

“I will turn this debt into light.”

My words rang heavily through the office.

Everyone nodded.

At that moment, the battle had already begun.

There was no turning back.

The board had been set.

All that remained was execution.

A private lending office near Yeongdeungpo.

The cramped office reeked of cigarettes.

The moment Manager Park entered, a middle-aged lender wearing a gold ring shot to his feet.

“Manager Park! You came personally? What brings you here?”

Manager Park smiled lightly and sat down.

“I came regarding Han Mi-suk’s debt. We’ll pay the principal and take it off your hands.”

Shock briefly crossed the lender’s face.

But he forced a smile and nodded.

“Haha... Manager Park, we already gave up on that one. Her husband is in the hospital, and she has absolutely no ability to repay. There’s nothing we can recover.”

Manager Park smiled calmly while tapping the table.

“That’s exactly why I’m making the offer. Take your principal back and close the matter cleanly.”

The lender’s brows narrowed.

“But... only the principal? We already have plenty of accumulated interest. You’re asking us to give all of that up?”

Manager Park kept smiling.

“President, I’m Manager Park, and Madam is behind me.”

His voice became low and firm.

“If I wanted to, it would take me two days to obtain the names of every debtor who borrowed from this office. Then if I called them all and offered refinancing...”

He paused.

“This office would start shaking immediately.”

The lender’s face slowly turned pale.

He said nothing.

But his fingertips trembled slightly.

Manager Park continued smiling.

“There’s no need for that. Just take the principal now and close the case. Isn’t it better if neither of us has to become unpleasant?”

Silence passed.

The lender finally searched through his ledger and tore out a page.

“...Understood. We’ll take the principal and close it. But from now on, we won’t involve ourselves in this case at all.”

Manager Park took cash from an envelope and quietly pushed it across the desk.

Then he collected the torn record and stood.

“A wise decision. I hope we continue working well together.”

He maintained his smile all the way out.

After the door closed behind him, the private lender’s shoulders sagged weakly.

Two days later.

The Yeongdeungpo private lending office.

The door opened.

The investigation agency owner entered carrying a thick envelope full of documents.

Kim So-jeong followed behind him.

Her expression looked even firmer than yesterday.

Neither of them had any humor on their face.

They looked like people who already had results in hand.

The atmosphere changed the moment they entered.

This wasn’t a casual report.

I stood.

“So you found something.”

The agency owner placed the envelope on the desk.

“Pangyo family property registrations, family records, and financial records. We spent all day yesterday gathering everything.”

He opened the envelope and took the documents out one by one.

The first was a family relationship certificate.

Names were listed beneath the red official stamp.

The eldest brother.

The second son.

The third.

And at the very bottom, the husband’s name.

I narrowed my eyes.

“He was entered into the family registry late... just as expected.”

The agency owner nodded.

“Yes. The elder brothers were all registered immediately after birth. The husband was only entered several years later. It’s evidence that he was born to a mistress.”

He continued calmly.

“That explains why the Pangyo mother treats him so coldly.”

I turned another page.

My lips tightened.

The ink on the paper felt almost as heavy as a court judgment.

In the end, it isn’t blood alone.

Records divide people too.

Emotion wasn’t necessary.

The records had already given us the answer.

You didn’t fight battles like this with emotion.

Law and documents were weapons.

The agency owner handed me another document.

“And these are the property records. We found recent movement suggesting that part of the Pangyo land is being transferred into the eldest brother’s name.”

Uncle Kim Dong-su asked in surprise,

“What?”

The agency owner calmly explained.

“The eldest brother already submitted an application to transfer some farmland that originally belonged to the father into his own name. The process is underway. If we leave it alone, the husband’s eventual share will naturally shrink.”

My eyes locked onto the document.

“They’re trying to move the land out of reach.”

“Yes. The Pangyo family has already started preparing. They’re trying to reduce his legal share before the husband dies.”

The room grew heavy.

I picked up a pen and drew a line on the document.

“Good. Then we move too. We start with a provisional seizure.”

The game had already begun.

There was no reason to delay.

If we were late, we would lose the asset.

Now was the right time.

Manager Park raised his eyes.

“Young Master Taesan, can we really file for provisional seizure at this stage? If the other side is already working with a judicial scrivener, timing will be important.”

I nodded.

“The conditions are met. They can’t deny that the husband is a legal heir. Even if he’s the son of a mistress, once he’s officially in the family registry, the law recognizes his share. We need to move now.”

The investigation agency owner immediately asked,

“Do we have the legal side ready?”

I smiled briefly.

“I already spoke with the lawyer yesterday. He said the moment we secured the family records and property registry documents, he could begin. We have everything now.”

The legal preparation was finished.

All that remained was action.

At that moment, Kim So-jeong stepped forward.

Her eyes were sharp.

“I also have something to report. I followed the eldest brother and the mother for two days.”

I nodded.

“Go ahead.”

Kim So-jeong opened her notebook.

“The eldest brother visited a judicial scrivener’s office yesterday. It looked like he was asking about a will.”

She continued.

“He also asked about a written waiver of inheritance.”

I muttered,

“An inheritance waiver...”

Kim So-jeong continued.

“They’re probably trying to prevent the wife and children from receiving any inheritance share once the husband dies. Legally, that won’t be easy, but they seem to believe money and connections will let them manipulate the paperwork.”
