Chapter 237. Siegfried (2)
Siegfried’s movements were textbook perfect.
There were no feints mixed in.
He simply charged straight ahead and swung his sword.
But there was not a single unnecessary motion in his movements.
His power and speed were both several levels above Astolfo’s.
There was no way someone of Astolfo’s level should have been able to dodge that attack.
And yet...
a miracle happened.
“Ah!”
Astolfo accidentally stepped on a loose stone and stumbled.
Thanks to that, he narrowly avoided Balmung.
Only a few strands of his flowing hair were cut away.
“He dodged?”
Siegfried hesitated.
Apparently, he thought Astolfo had avoided the attack through skill and became wary.
As expected of Astolfo!
If a Constellation had a stat called ‘Luck,’ Astolfo would definitely be EX-rank.
Either way, Siegfried had paused.
I didn’t miss the opportunity.
Bang! Bang-bang!
The handgun the Count of Monte Cristo had painstakingly enhanced fired three bullets toward Siegfried.
But Siegfried blocked every shot with only a slight movement of Balmung.
“These aren’t ordinary bullets.”
"...!"
I kept pulling the trigger.
Siegfried simply stood where he was and blocked every shot.
Using the opening, Astolfo charged him again.
“Haaah...!”
Perhaps his luck activated again.
Astolfo’s sword landed directly on Siegfried’s shoulder.
But...
“Huh?!”
“An ordinary weapon cannot even scratch my body.”
Siegfried’s shoulder was perfectly unharmed.
Instead, Astolfo’s sword snapped.
“Hmph!”
“Aagh!”
Siegfried swung his arm and punched Astolfo.
The fist struck Astolfo squarely in the face, knocking him backward with blood pouring from his nose.
“My apologies.”
“I seem to have ruined that handsome face of yours.”
“I-It’ll go back to normal after healing... ugh.”
Astolfo lost consciousness.
So he really does have an immortal body.
According to legend, Siegfried had bathed in dragon blood and gained a body that could not be wounded by anything.
But he blocked my bullets.
A moment ago, Siegfried had specifically said that an ‘ordinary weapon’ couldn’t injure him.
That meant sufficiently powerful attacks could.
Even so, landing a fatal wound will probably be impossible.
Siegfried had died after being stabbed by his own sword, Balmung.
His one weakness was his back, where a leaf had stuck to his skin and prevented the dragon’s blood from touching him.
That meant even a weapon on Balmung’s level couldn’t inflict a fatal wound unless it struck that spot.
Then I’ll have to keep him occupied with the Count’s handgun and aim for his back...!
Of course, Siegfried knew his own weakness.
There was no way he would casually expose his back to me.
Could I actually get behind Siegfried with my current skill?
I’ll just have to try...!
I raised the handgun and repeatedly fired at the windows of the nearby buildings.
“Hmm!”
Seeing shards of glass raining down, Siegfried quickly moved away.
The pieces probably couldn’t make him bleed, but they would at least sting.
And having glass fragments caught in his clothes would be annoying.
Using that opening, I fled into a nearby department store.
“Running away?!”
Siegfried chased after me.
I kept fleeing while using the structure of the department store to my advantage.
The evacuation had already been completed, so there were no people inside.
“This behavior is hardly admirable!”
BOOM! CRASH! BANG!
Siegfried began swinging Balmung and smashing the building apart.
“Don’t you feel sorry for the people who own this department store...?!”
“Material possessions are fleeting!”
Was that something only a hero who had slain a dragon and obtained countless treasures could say?
Siegfried continued destroying the department store as he chased me.
“Ghk!”
Eventually, one of Siegfried’s attacks shattered the floor.
I fell through to the level below.
“Do not disgrace yourself, Nameless King!”
“Kang Yujin would never run away like this!”
“Don’t treat me like I’m the same as that guy...!”
The underground level was a parking garage.
I ran between the many cars still parked there while looking around.
“Nameless King...!”
Siegfried roared and charged after me.
After checking my surroundings, I grabbed the nearest car and hurled it at him.
“Pointless resistance!”
I kept throwing cars.
Siegfried cut every single one in half with Balmung.
“What meaning does this have, Nameless King?!”
Ignoring his words entirely...
I pulled the trigger repeatedly.
“It’s useless! Don’t disappoint me...”
Siegfried’s voice abruptly cut off.
A moment after the gunshots, an explosion erupted inside the parking garage.
Good...!
The explosion had been caused by the fuel inside the cars.
One of the bullets from the Count’s handgun had sparked among the wreckage and ignited the leaking fuel.
Unlike Korea, India is an oil-producing country.
Fuel shortages made it difficult to run cars in Korea, but India never reached that point!
Just as I had expected, some of the cars in the parking garage still had plenty of fuel inside.
The first explosion triggered others.
While Siegfried was caught in the chain of blasts, I moved behind him.
Now...!
I pulled the trigger.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang-bang!
After confirming that the bullets from the Count’s handgun struck Siegfried’s back while he was engulfed in flames, I hurried out of the parking garage.
The instant I escaped the department store...
a massive explosion erupted behind me.
Whether it came from gas or electricity, the parking garage fire seemed to have triggered something even larger.
