Chapter 266. Christina (1)
Dis City, once the capital of Pandemonium, had been completely transformed.
The buildings that had filled the city were gone.
So were the tree roots that had covered them.
All that remained was a flat plain without even the slightest rise or depression.
Of course, the land wasn’t truly empty.
A beautiful castle stood right in the middle of it.
“Haha, what a magnificent castle.”
“It truly deserves to be called the Camelot of a new age.”
The one speaking in a sing-song voice from the balcony was the S-rank Constellation ‘Prophetic Magician,’ Merlin.
“You cleaned up that filthy city and built such a wonderful castle in a single day...”
“You really are an extraordinary existence, Christina!”
As he spoke, Merlin looked toward the girl standing beside him.
Christina wore black clothes created from magic.
Her cloak fluttered behind her as she looked out over the land.
“The cleanup isn’t finished yet, Merlin.”
“Ah, right.”
“The roots covered almost all of Pandemonium’s territory, but they didn’t absorb every demon.”
“Nearly thirty percent survived.”
“And the roots never reached the Americas or Australia in the first place.”
“You’ve already finished analyzing all of that?”
“Truly impressive!”
“I don’t need flattery, Merlin.”
Christina’s voice was cold.
“After gaining Lucifer’s power and becoming the absolute strongest, something like that is trivial.”
“Yes, of course.”
“Merlin, I’m going to become the first Constellation born from the Material Realm.”
“The Nameless King is also from the Material Realm.”
“He’s an exception.”
“Strictly speaking, it would be more accurate to say Lucifer became a Constellation.”
“So calling him a Constellation from the Material Realm wouldn’t be quite right.”
"..."
“Either way, I’m someone who will become a Constellation.”
“So I need to wipe out every demon in this world.”
“And not only the demons.”
“The subordinate races that followed them, like corrupted fiends and distorted fiends, as well as the humans who profited by clinging to demons.”
Christina had gained immense power.
And she intended to use that power to accomplish an equally immense feat.
“Certainly... if you achieve something on that scale, becoming a Constellation should be more than possible.”
“Right?”
Christina smiled brightly at Merlin’s answer.
For a moment...
she looked like an ordinary girl.
“By the way, Merlin.”
“What do the Constellations think of me?”
“The Constellations?”
“I mean their opinion of me.”
“What are they saying about the woman who exposed the Nameless King as Lucifer and rose to become the true absolute powerhouse?”
“To be honest, they’re mostly watching.”
“Watching?”
“They haven’t decided that the Nameless King is evil just because he contains Lucifer’s soul.”
“And they aren’t praising you as ‘the true hero who will change the world’ either.”
"..."
“For now, everyone is waiting to see how things develop.”
“They believe the conclusion hasn’t been reached yet.”
“So in the end, the conclusion will only come after the Nameless King and I settle things.”
“Exactly.”
If Christina won...
then the Nameless King would become a villain unlike any other.
A monster who had plotted countless conspiracies in order to regain Lucifer’s power.
And Christina would be praised as the hero of a new era...
the one who defeated that villain and established a new order.
“History is ultimately written by the victor.”
“Once you win Armageddon, every part of the story will be organized exactly the way you want.”
“Good.”
“Then you’ll help me too, right?”
“Of course.”
“As your kingmaker, I’ll support you.”
Merlin had supported Christina for a long time.
Their relationship had temporarily broken after Merlin lost to the Nameless King and submitted to him.
But now...
Merlin had returned to Christina’s side.
“Then Merlin, I want your advice on something.”
“What is it?”
“Should I go east or west?”
“Why are you asking?”
“No matter how powerful I am, sweeping across the entire opposite side of the planet at once would be difficult.”
Christina spoke casually.
“Should I head west, clean up the remaining demons in Europe, cross the Atlantic, and then wipe out the Americas?”
“Or should I head east and eliminate the demons scattered across Asia first?”
“So you plan to exterminate Pandemonium’s remnants as you travel?”
“Not just Pandemonium’s remnants.”
“I’ll deal with Gremory in China too.”
“Gremory is currently cooperating with humans.”
“Doesn’t matter.”
“Before that, she was a demon of Pandemonium who caused misery for a great many humans.”
"..."
“And Ma Taesu, who profited from trading with Pandemonium, will have to be eliminated too.”
“Hmm...”
Merlin slowly nodded.
“If that’s what you intend... then east would probably be better.”
“Hmm. Is that so?”
Christina ran a hand through her hair.
“Then I guess I should go west.”
"..."
“I can visit my hometown on the way.”
Saying the exact opposite of Merlin’s advice, Christina walked toward the balcony railing.
“Merlin, do you know where the Nameless King is?”
“If I knew, I would have told you already.”
“I’m trying to locate him as quickly as possible.”
“I’m not in any hurry, so there’s no need to rush.”
“It’ll take me quite a while to become a Constellation anyway.”
“And if the Lucifer hunt ends too quickly, that would be boring.”
"..."
“I’m looking forward to seeing that man come back at me with an army.”
“Honestly, that seems rather difficult.”
“Even if it isn’t an army...”
“Who were they again?”
“I don’t mind if he comes at me with those second-rate Constellations who escaped with him and Kang Yujin.”
“Kang Yujin is the one who matters most anyway.”
Christina lightly jumped onto the balcony railing.
“I’ll be heading west for a while.”
“Take good care of New Camelot.”
“I’ll be back soon.”
“Of course.”
“While you’re away, I’ll make this place into something more suitable for you.”
“Thanks, court magician.”
Leaving those words behind...
Christina rose into the air.
Then she flew west at a speed too fast for the eye to follow.
“Whew...”
Only after Christina completely disappeared from sight did Merlin pull down his hood and sigh.
When he turned his head...
Heracles was standing nearby, leaning against a pillar.
“Oh my.”
