Chapter 1

Chapter 1: I Am a Reincarnator

I am a reincarnator.

Someone who died once and was born again.

If anyone called my second life a blessing from God...

I would call that blasphemy.

Because this life wasn't a blessing.

It was nothing more than a cruel curse handed down by a devil.

In my previous life, I was a Hunter.

Calling me a Hunter made it sound impressive, but in reality, I was a bottom-tier D-rank Hunter who could barely earn enough to feed himself.

I spent every day struggling to hunt the weakest monsters inside dungeons.

Every single day felt like standing on the edge of a cliff.

I had to risk my life just to afford my next meal.

Then one day, while clearing a D-rank dungeon alone, I had the worst luck imaginable.

I ran into a B-rank monster.

An Ogre.

Seriously? My life is completely screwed. How the hell does a B-rank Ogre appear in a D-rank dungeon?

What could a bottom-tier D-rank Hunter possibly do against a B-rank monster?

I struggled until the very end because I wanted to live...

But the outcome had already been decided.

Crack... crunch.

My head was ripped off while I was still alive.

A shitty fate.

A pathetic life.

And a meaningless death that perfectly suited both.

Just like the insignificant D-rank Hunter I had always been, I died miserably and alone, without anyone remembering me.

That was how my life ended.

Or at least, I thought it had.

Huh? What the hell is this?!

When I opened my eyes again, I found myself in an entirely different world.

It wasn't the Unified Republic of Korea of the year 2095 where I had originally lived.

The place where I had been reborn was China.

More precisely...

The martial world.

A world where swords split the heavens.

Where bald monks shattered cliffs with their fists.

Where martial artists who had surpassed the limits of humanity overturned heaven and earth with their power.

It was the Central Plains martial world that only existed in fantasy web novels.

I had gone from being a Hunter...

to being reincarnated into the martial world!

Wait. Is this one of those insanely lucky fortuitous-encounter routes?

...I wished.

Unfortunately, my second life couldn't have been further from some miraculous adventure.

It was hell itself.

The martial world.

A merciless world where your place in life was decided by how powerful your martial arts were.

And right in the middle of that brutal jungle...

I had reincarnated into a body with absolutely no talent for martial arts.

To learn martial arts, one first needed to sense and control qi.

But I couldn't even manage that basic step.

No matter how carefully I controlled my breathing or focused on my dantian, all I could feel was exhaustion and helplessness.

It felt as if every meridian inside my body was blocked.

I had been reborn into the body of a complete dullard who couldn't even perform basic qi circulation.

In the martial world, I was someone from whom absolutely nothing could be expected.

In other words...

I had been reborn with another shitty fate.

Even if I had no talent for martial arts, I would have been satisfied if my second life had at least been peaceful.

But my cursed destiny wouldn't even allow me that simple wish.

Shortly after turning sixteen, I was kidnapped.

My kidnappers belonged to the Shadow Corps, an underground organization secretly created by the Righteous Alliance, the group that claimed to represent justice in the martial world.

The Righteous Alliance... those filthy hypocritical bastards.

Even now, just thinking about them made my blood boil.

In public, they shouted themselves hoarse about protecting justice and peace throughout the martial world.

But from within the unseen darkness, they carried out every disgusting conspiracy imaginable.

The true nature of the Shadow Corps was unknown to the world.

It was evil itself.

Under the false excuse of "protecting the peace of the martial world," they committed countless atrocities from the shadows.

Plots and assassinations against individuals or factions that opposed the Righteous Alliance were only the beginning.

They even carried out large-scale kidnappings of innocent civilians.

Those who were kidnapped became tools for the Righteous Alliance's secret experiments.

The victims used in those experiments weren't even called people.

They were called "Test Subjects."

The Shadow Corps tested the poisons and medicinal pills they created on them.

They experimented with illusion arts that disturbed people's minds and forced obedience.

Human lives were sacrificed simply to verify the results of every experiment.

Not a single day passed without screams filled with curses and agony echoing through the underground prison.

The smell of burning flesh mixed with blood and medicinal herbs until the air itself became suffocating.

I was one of those Test Subjects.

Yet somehow, I didn't die in that horrific place.

I endured for more than thirty years.

No.

Even when I wanted to die...

I couldn't.

Why?

Because of a damned Awakening that happened by coincidence during one of the Shadow Corps' human experiments.

The regenerative ability I had possessed as a D-rank Hunter in my previous life awakened once again in this life.

Except this time...

It was dozens of times stronger.

And what happened after that?

Oh, they treated me "very well."

They called me a "Special Test Subject" and subjected me to the worst experiments the human mind could possibly imagine.

I became a human guinea pig used to test secret poisons created by the Sichuan Tang Clan.

I became a living training dummy for martial artists secretly raised by the Righteous Alliance to sharpen their combat instincts.

They forced me to consume medicinal pills that violently exploded the body's latent potential, granting internal energy in exchange for burning away one's lifespan.

On operating tables covered in blood and screams, my miserable life continued.

From dawn until night.

Every single day.

Without exception.

Regeneration.

Because of that cursed ability, I couldn't even die.

Even when both my arms were cut off...

Even when my lower body melted in flames...

Within several days, my body would return to normal.

So they tore me apart more often.

Cut me more deeply.

Burned me with hotter flames.

Because I wouldn't die...

they could experiment on me until I almost did.

And in the end...

That life had brought me here.

Fwoooooosh!

The blood-red sky split apart.

From the enormous crack in the heavens, an ocean of flames poured down.

This wasn't an ordinary fire.

The Myriad Tribulation Flame.

The flames of hell that reduced everything to ashes.

The final battle between the Righteous Alliance and the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult.

Just as the Righteous Alliance was finally about to destroy the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult...

The cult chose to unleash its final taboo.

Before those cursed flames, everything returned to nothingness.

Humans.

Martial arts.

Even souls.

Fwoooooosh!

The legendary flames of destruction were swallowing the entire world.

And within those flames of annihilation...

I alone remained alive.
