Chapter 13

Chapter 13. Majesty From Another World (2)

Jooheon leaped into the sky.

He threw Gungnir.

But the triumphal arch didn't even move.

The reason was simple.

[Blocked by a Majesty Trait.]

[Awakening as Majesty is required on this side as well.]

Awakening?

At the same time...

New writing appeared inside the Mini Rulebook.

[Narrative of World B-187487]

·

First: Curse of Babel (Language) manifested. (Resolved)

·

·

Second: Curse of Vishvakarma (Tools) manifested. (Resolved)

·

·

Third: Curse of the Nile (Records) manifested. (Resolved)

·

·

Fourth: Curse of Fuxi (Future) manifested. (Ended)

·

·

Fifth: Inter-World Gate Opened / Triumphal Arch Invasion Begins. (NEW)

·

·

Sixth: [LOCKED]

·

Words were engraved on the surface of the triumphal arch.

·

Great War. Proof of Victory.

·

·

Total dead: 230,000.

·

·

Conquest completed.

·

The records appeared and vanished repeatedly across its surface.

Then...

BOOOOM!

The Artifact released power toward the center of the city like a gigantic meteor.

A tremendous pressure wave erupted.

Then...

“Ah, ah.”

An unfamiliar man's voice echoed from the Artifact.

“Declaration of conquest.”

“Ah, ah.”

“Declaration of conquest.”

The voice continued.

“From this moment onward, this world will be incorporated into the territory ruled by Majesty Mars O'Connell.”

Jooheon flinched.

Majesty Jaeha spoke.

“Rulebook probably mentioned it before.”

He looked toward Jooheon.

“This is a Majesty War.”

Sure enough...

A status window appeared.

[Majesty of Conquest has declared a Majesty War.]

[A Majesty from another dimension has used one of his <Special Privileges>.]

[Special Privilege: 'Remove All Status Effects' activated.]

[Target: Entire World.]

The frozen air suddenly began moving.

Light flowed again.

The flock of pigeons frozen in the air resumed flying.

Signs hanging from high-rise buildings began shaking.

Time itself returned.

Ilya's Time Stop was being canceled.

And that wasn't all.

[From this moment onward, this world will be conquered as a 'Historical Narrative.']

The atmosphere surrounding the world changed.

Citizens froze.

Then began speaking in completely different tones.

“Long live His Imperial Majesty!”

“The Imperial Army has won another victory today!”

“Rebel spotted! I must report him!”

“Foreigners may not enter without permission from the priesthooood~”

Everyone began moving like scripted NPCs.

Their eyes looked normal.

But their actions repeated in fixed patterns.

No one spoke freely.

Notifications appeared one after another.

[Citizens are transforming into NPCs.]

[They will repeat designated actions.]

[The 'Conquest Artifact' is overwriting the rules of the world.]

[All citizens will begin locating and plundering Artifacts according to 'Imperial Orders.']

“...Ha.”

Jooheon clicked his tongue.

Apparently, the Triumphal Arch of Victory could transform the world itself in order to ensure victory.

But that wasn't the immediate problem.

[The stopped time is resuming.]

Julian hurriedly mounted Ilya's summoned creature and flew high into the sky.

He shouted toward the triumphal arch.

“Can you hear me?!”

“Time cannot be released yet!”

“If it resumes right now, there could be massive airplane collisions!”

That warning was aimed at the invading Majesty.

But...

“Really?”

Mars O'Connell sounded amused.

“Even better.”

“...What?”

“If people die, their Bound Artifact contracts will be released.”

His voice turned greedy.

“That means I can collect plenty of Bound Artifacts too.”

That crazy bastard!

This was bad.

People are going to die.

They had to stop that first.

Originally, while time was frozen, they had planned to duplicate and distribute translation Artifacts.

But the only man capable of doing that...

Yoo Jaeha...

Had become cup ramen.

What do we do?

Jooheon suddenly looked toward Majesty Yoo Jaeha.

“You.”

Jaeha looked over.

“You can create Artifacts, can't you?”

Majesty Jaeha's eyes turned cold.

“What are you talking about?”

“My ability is counterfeiting and replication—”

“Bullshit.”

Jooheon cut him off.

“You have creation abilities.”

Jaeha's expression changed.

“You stopped Gungnir with another Gungnir.”

“You made that entire execution-stage set.”

“You even changed Yoo Jaeha's heart into the Heart of Majesty.”

Jooheon's eyes narrowed.

“You expect me to believe all that came from simple replication?”

Majesty Jaeha looked away and sighed.

“...For an unawakened Majesty, you notice too much.”

“Stop making excuses.”

Jooheon glared.

“Answer.”

Majesty Jaeha finally sighed in resignation.

“Fine.”

“You're right.”

“My true ability is 'Artifact Creation.'”

He raised a finger.

“But I can only create things within story structures I already know.”

“There are limits.”

“Still, I can create almost anything.”

He stared at Jooheon.

“So?”

“What do you want?”

“Create the Artifact I tell you to.”

“Is this a negotiation between Majesties?”

Jaeha smiled.

“What's the payment?”

Jooheon twisted one corner of his mouth upward.

“Aren't you just another Majesty who came to steal Artifacts from my world?”

Jaeha frowned.

“So you're threatening me into making it if I don't want to die?”

“Why do you think that?”

Jooheon's smile became vicious.

“Because you specifically sacrificed Yoo Jaeha.”

Majesty Jaeha's eyes narrowed.

“He's my restoration specialist.”

“Without him, eventually I won't be able to properly use my Artifacts.”

Jaeha scoffed.

“You're accusing an innocent man.”

“Do you have evidence?”

“No.”

Jooheon grinned.

“But I know your weakness.”

“What?”

“Rulebook.”

“!”

Jooheon's eyes flashed.

“That Rulebook that appeared earlier.”

He pointed at Majesty Jaeha.

“You created it, didn't you?”

For the first time...

Majesty Jaeha's shameless expression cracked.

Only for a moment.

Then he quickly regained control and laughed.

“What kind of bullshit is that?”

“Do I look like someone who'd create a psycho book like that?”

“Don't play dumb.”

“You said it yourself.”

“What?”

“You said you could 'track Rulebook.'”

Silence.

Jooheon continued.

“How can someone who isn't its owner track an Artifact?”

“......”

“There is only one answer.”

Jooheon's eyes sharpened.

“Because you made it.”

“......”

The talkative Majesty Jaeha fell silent for the first time.

His eyes turned cold.

He looked at Jooheon with something close to disgust.

“Why were you chasing Rulebook?”

No answer.

“Or...”

Jooheon chuckled.

“Were you the one who spread Rulebook throughout the worlds in the first place?”

“?!”

Jaeha snapped.

“Why the hell would I do that?!”

“Then explain.”

Jooheon stepped closer.

“Did you spread Rulebook, kill the Majesties, and then take their worlds?”

“......”

Jooheon sneered when Jaeha couldn't answer.

“In the end, you're all the same.”

“You're a thief too.”

Majesty Jaeha turned away, clearly refusing to answer.

But then...

BOOM!

He screamed.

Rope shot out at Jooheon's command and tightly wrapped around him.

“...!”

“You're not running away.”

Jooheon stepped on Majesty Jaeha.

“You're the manufacturer who created Rulebook, the thing destroying worldlines?”

He smiled.

“If the other Majesties found out about this, it'd be entertaining.”

“You'd have the dimensional equivalent of an Interpol Red Notice.”

Majesty Jaeha glared viciously at him.

Then Jooheon spoke.

“That Rulebook you created.”

Jaeha stiffened.

“Create an Artifact for me so we can destroy it.”

Jaeha bit his lip.

“...What do you want?”

Jooheon pointed toward the sky.

The triumphal arch was still crushing the city from above.

The symbol of conquest that had turned all the citizens into NPCs.

“I need an Artifact that can break that thing.”

Jaeha clenched his teeth.

Then...

[Warning: Three aircraft have deviated from their flight paths.]

[Collision Risk: 397 seconds.]

Ding!

Passenger planes crossing the city's airspace were drifting from their precise routes.

The Time Stop had disturbed their flight paths.

Everyone knew what would happen.

“Damn it...”

Jooheon frowned.

Then glared at Majesty Jaeha again.

“...Before that, one more thing.”

“What?”

“We're stopping the airplane disaster first, bastard.”

“The triumphal arch comes after that.”

“......”

Jooheon's eyes sharpened.

“From this moment onward, we're unifying the language of every person on Earth.”

Jaeha gritted his teeth.

“Does an Artifact like that even exist?”

“Artifact Creation needs a story I already know—”

“I'll give you the exact story.”

Jooheon walked directly in front of him.

“The Bible.”

“Genesis, Chapter 11, Verse 1.”

He spoke clearly.

“'The whole world had one language.'”

Jaeha stared.

“Excuse me?”

“It's the line from the Tower of Babel story.”

Jooheon grinned.

“We'll reverse the Curse of Babel.”

Jaeha's pupils trembled.

“...You're seriously going to use that?”

“Yeah.”

“Create an Artifact based on that 'record.'”

Jaeha sighed.

“If the narrative doesn't match properly, it'll break apart.”

“But I suppose there's no harm in trying.”

Majesty Jaeha raised one hand.

Majesty's power shone at his fingertips.

CRACK!

A golden fissure formed across the ground.

Jaeha chanted like he was casting a spell.

“Tablet of Genesis 11.”

RUMBLEEEEE!

Something erupted from the ground like flame.

A gigantic stone tablet tore through the sky.

It looked partly like a fragment of the fallen Tower of Babel...

And partly like someone's gravestone.

Golden words appeared across its surface.

[The whole world had one language.]

·

Genesis 11:1

·

The moment the tablet was completed, Jaeha shouted:

“It's done!”

“But we might not be able to use it!”

“What?”

“Why?”

“A myth on the level of the Bible requires absurd Dominance or Compatibility!”

Jaeha frowned.

“I'm not even a professional clergyman.”

“How the hell am I supposed to use it?!”

Professional clergyman?

Everyone's eyes turned toward Ilya, the former Catholic priest.

Ilya's veins bulged.

“I'm a fallen priest!”

Right.

A priest bastard who used demons.

And the only person here with enough Dominance...

“Looks like it's me.”

Majesty Jaeha frowned.

“An unawakened Majesty can't do it.”

“It's impossible—”

Jooheon placed his hand on the tablet.

“We won't know until I try!”

An overwhelming wave of Dominance surged into the tablet.

Majesty Jaeha's mouth fell open.

Golden shockwaves exploded in every direction.

The eyes of every citizen...

Every animal...

Every living creature...

Flashed gold simultaneously.

[Divine-Grade Artifact activated: Tablet of Genesis 11.]

[The languages of all creation will be synchronized into 'one language.']

[Targets: Humans, Artifacts, Majesties, animals, and all living beings.]

The entire city shook.

(To be continued.)
