Chapter 109

Chapter 109. God Does Not Play Dice (3)

“That’s the Abraxas ship.”

After arriving at the harbor, No. 5 pointed toward the vessel anchored offshore.

It looked exactly like the ship in the photographs.

Yukgap stared at it and muttered in admiration,

“It’s huge.”

“And there are a lot of people.”

He had no idea what they were transporting, but the ship itself was enormous, and the surrounding area was bustling with people who looked like Abraxas personnel.

One glance was enough to tell that something large-scale was underway.

“If they need a ship that big to move it, then whatever they’re carrying can’t be ordinary.”

[An ominous presence surrounds it. Even I find it suspicious.]

Victoria and Robert, who had followed them, made cautious guesses of their own.

Then Kevin’s voice came through their earpieces.

[Ahem. Can everyone hear me?]

Everyone present was wearing tiny earphones.

Kevin had specially prepared them so they could communicate during the operation.

Yukgap quickly answered,

“Loud and clear.”

Kevin was currently positioned somewhere safe, acting as their command center.

More accurately, his role was to roll the die in order to counter Abraxas’s foresight.

[From this point onward, follow my instructions carefully.]

[If anyone acts independently, we may simply end up dancing exactly as Abraxas’s foresight expects.]

“Don’t worry about that.”

[Then I’ll explain the operation.]

[Our objective is to disable whatever equipment Abraxas has aboard that ship by destroying its ability to function.]

[Everyone brought the capsule-type EMP bombs Doctor Frankenstein made, correct?]

Yukgap pulled a small device resembling a portable radio from his pocket.

Victoria had specially made it for today.

“I’ll explain this part.”

Victoria quickly stepped in to describe her invention.

“It looks small, but once this EMP bomb activates, it releases a powerful electromagnetic pulse.”

“Every electronic circuit nearby will be fried.”

“Computers, personal smartphones, pretty much anything electronic will be wiped out.”

Kevin added,

[If you install one inside the ship, whatever machinery they have should be rendered useless.]

[EMP effects are harmless to living organisms, so you don’t need to worry about accidental casualties.]

Yukgap quickly summarized.

“So basically, we can destroy all of Abraxas’s machines without killing anyone.”

That part, at least, he liked.

In fact, if the operation had required killing people, he would never have agreed to participate.

Victoria hurriedly added,

“The problem is that we don’t know the internal structure of the ship.”

“Even Robert’s infrared camera couldn’t see through it.”

“It’s an Abraxas ship.”

Yukgap answered.

“They would’ve prepared for that much.”

This was Abraxas, after all.

As a massive military-industrial organization, they treated secrecy as seriously as life itself.

There was no way they would build a vessel that could be casually scanned from outside.

[We will enter from three directions.]

[The moment even one person manages to install an EMP bomb, everyone else must retreat immediately.]

[Our opponent is Abraxas.]

[They have almost certainly prepared countermeasures inside.]

[If you hesitate, you may get dragged into something unexpected.]

Yukgap loosened his shoulders.

“You don’t have to tell me twice.”

[Then good luck.]

Yukgap did not answer.

He simply gave a small nod toward the empty air.

Since this was a ship sent by Abraxas, it was probably packed with obstacles he had not even imagined.

Can this small group really pull it off?

Several complicated thoughts weighed on him.

“I’ll cause a disturbance at the front with Robert.”

Victoria took the lead.

“When that happens, you two approach from the right and left.”

Yukgap gave her a worried look.

“Don’t overdo it.”

“If things go bad, run.”

“What, you don’t trust me?”

“That’s exactly why I’m saying it.”

“If you actually get serious, you’ll probably blow up the entire harbor.”

If anyone could accidentally destroy the whole area, it was Victoria.

Yukgap had learned that fact painfully well from experience.

“Hehehe.”

Victoria gave an ominous laugh as she climbed onto Robert.

“Don’t worry.”

“I’ll control the firepower properly this time.”

Then she stared toward the distant Abraxas ship and shouted,

“Let’s go!”

[System active. Suppression mode engaged.]

Robert’s eyes flashed red.

With Victoria riding on his back, he charged straight forward.

He looked less like a golem and more like a truck barreling ahead without brakes.

“What the...?”

One of the workers near the ship noticed them and tilted his head.

Victoria spotted him and shouted,

“Move unless you want to die!”

Robert did not slow down in the slightest, whether people were in front of him or not.

The sight of a steel golem charging directly toward them plunged the entire area into chaos.

“Aaaaaah! What the hell is that?!”

“Run! Something’s coming this way!”

“There’s some crazy woman riding on top of it!”

The Abraxas workers around the vessel panicked at the sudden appearance of Robert and Victoria.

Victoria immediately seized the opportunity.

“Robert! Unload everything we prepared!”

[As you command!]

Gun barrels of every imaginable kind emerged from Robert’s chest and body.

Then he began indiscriminately firing the explosives and ammunition Victoria had prepared the night before.

The firepower had been adjusted to avoid direct fatalities, but the smoke and deafening noise alone were more than enough to throw the harbor into complete confusion.

“Kahahahaha! You’re all so weak!”

“Is that really all you’ve got?!”

Victoria cheered while watching the Abraxas employees flee in every direction.

Yukgap clicked his tongue as he watched from afar.

“She’s having way too much fun.”

Her job was simply to create a distraction so the others could infiltrate.

But anyone watching could tell she was enjoying herself.

No.

She was definitely enjoying herself.

“This isn’t the time.”

No. 5 urged him.

“We need to move too.”

Yukgap glanced at her.

“Don’t push yourself.”

“I should be telling you that.”

No. 5 answered.

“The nanomachines will guide you.”

“Watch carefully.”

With that, she ran toward the opposite side.

Left alone, Yukgap looked toward the flank of the ship and exhaled lightly.

“Okay.”

“So I go this way.”

He focused.

Every sense in his body sharpened to its limit.

Then his body became a brief afterimage and shot forward.

Fortunately, Victoria’s distraction had drawn so much attention that nobody interfered with him as he approached the ship.

He quickly reached one of the access points leading aboard.

Once I get up there, I’m inside.

With that thought, Yukgap reached out.

“Oh my.”

Something invisible suddenly slapped his hand away.

“Look who it is.”

The familiar voice came from empty air.

Yukgap clicked his tongue.

“Tch.”

“I knew Alpha was right.”

“She said if I waited here long enough, I’d get to see you.”

A woman with green eyes slowly appeared from the air.

No. 7.

Apparently, she had been waiting here specifically for him to approach.

“I don’t have time to deal with you right now.”

Yukgap quickly stepped back.

No. 7 snorted.

“That won’t work.”

“I have the key to that entrance.”

She proudly displayed a key hanging from her waist.

“And just so you know, that door is made of a special alloy and is more than three meters thick.”

“Even you won’t be able to break through it.”

Yukgap glared at her.

“What do you want?”

“If you want inside, take it from me yourself.”

It was exactly the sort of answer he expected from No. 7.

So it really had come to this.

“Tch.”

Yukgap gritted his teeth and immediately unleashed his beast form.

Spotted fur spread across his body as his skeleton expanded with loud cracking sounds.

Soon he stood in the true form of an Archon, a humanoid predator fused with the traits of a cheetah.

No. 7 finally smiled in satisfaction.

“That’s more like it.”

Her eyes flashed.

Then her own transformation began.

Within moments, she stood before Yukgap as a bipedal black jaguar.

The cloaking suit she wore and her blade-like claws only made her more threatening.

“Don’t run away like last time.”

No. 7 roared.

“Come on, let’s roll around like beasts!”

Just as they were about to clash, Kevin’s voice came through the earpiece.

[Have you encountered an Abraxas Archon?]

“Yeah.”

Yukgap answered.

“And I got the worst possible matchup.”

Then he heard the sound of a die rolling.

Clatter...

Kevin’s instruction followed.

[The die landed on ‘Escape.’]

[Run.]

“What?”

Yukgap froze.

“Here?”

They had come all this way, and now he was supposed to run away?

Yukgap was speechless.

Kevin remained firm.

[Now.]

[There’s no time to hesitate.]

“Fine!”

Yukgap spun around.

“I’ll run, all right?!”

At Kevin’s insistence, he simply turned and fled.

No. 7 screamed and immediately chased after him.

“Where are you going again?!”

“This time I’m not letting you escape!”

Judging by her eyes, she had no intention of giving up as easily as before.

As Yukgap ran for reasons even he barely understood, a single question kept circling through his mind.

“Is this really the right thing to do?”
