Chapter 199. The Destroyer, No. 13 (2)
“Thank you for helping even though I contacted you so suddenly.”
No. 5 thanked him from her seat inside the helicopter.
Kevin, sitting across from her, waved it off.
“Don’t mention it. The situation is urgent.”
After meeting Hikaru, No. 5 had contacted Kevin through the Herrington Order.
He was already dealing with the emergency caused by the giant life-form that had appeared at sea, but he readily agreed to help her.
“By the way, what exactly is that?”
Kevin asked, glancing through the helicopter window at the enormous creature outside.
It was black.
And gigantic.
Its skin sagged as though coated in sticky tar.
The arms and legs attached to its body resembled human limbs, but their ends were grotesquely twisted.
At a glance, it almost looked like a giant black human.
But a tail fin protruded from its lower back.
It was something almost impossible to describe.
The creature continued moving steadily forward.
With every step, red sparks flashed across its body before fading again.
“That’s Alpha, the leader of us Archons.”
“It looks like she fused with No. 12 and the other Archons.”
“For now, she’s only focused on moving, but once she reaches land, there’ll be a catastrophe.”
No. 5 stared intently at the creature as she explained.
Kevin sounded doubtful.
“Are you certain?”
“I can feel it.”
“Alpha’s call and her rage are both inside my head right now.”
“She can’t think normally anymore.”
“She’s consumed by nothing but the desire to destroy something.”
No. 5 had remained quiet until now, but Alpha’s voice was still echoing inside her mind.
A powerful urge kept rising within her.
She wanted to throw open the helicopter door right now and let that thing absorb her.
“I’ve already contacted the leaders of several countries just in case.”
Kevin continued grimly.
“But I’m not sure even all of them working together could stop that.”
No. 5, who had been silently watching Omega’s movements, suddenly flinched.
“Hmm?”
“What is it?”
No. 5 pointed toward the open sea.
“Over there.”
“What’s that?”
Someone who looked like a person was floating in the water, clinging to an old buoy.
Apparently noticing the helicopter, the figure was waving frantically.
And for some reason, they looked strangely familiar.
Kevin narrowed his eyes and focused.
“That’s...!”
“Phew! Thank you.”
“I thought I was going to drown out there.”
After being pulled into the helicopter, Victoria wrung seawater from her clothes.
Kevin, who had unexpectedly ended up rescuing her, stared in disbelief.
“Why were you floating alone in the middle of the ocean?”
Victoria answered bitterly.
“I escaped from Abraxas’s marine base.”
“But when the base started moving, the boat I came in drifted away.”
“I barely managed to grab onto a buoy and hang on.”
“Why are you alone?”
No. 5 asked quickly.
She was clearly asking about Yukgap.
Victoria lowered her head weakly.
“Yukgap has already been absorbed into Omega.”
Kevin cautiously asked,
“Omega?”
“Is that what that thing is called?”
Victoria nodded.
“Yes.”
“Alpha said she was going to destroy everything, then fused with the remaining Archons and turned into that.”
No. 5 clicked her tongue lightly.
“As expected.”
Victoria immediately asked about her condition.
“What about you?”
“Are you okay?”
“The other Archons were absorbed into that thing like they were hypnotized!”
No. 5 let out a quiet sigh.
“Alpha’s call is echoing inside my head too.”
“To be honest, I want to throw myself into Omega right now.”
Even as she spoke, her body trembled faintly.
She was clearly resisting through sheer force of will.
“You’re holding out surprisingly well.”
“I have a reason to.”
No. 5 answered briefly.
Kevin had just finished a phone call and immediately reported the situation.
“The leaders of several countries just contacted me.”
“They’re deploying their militaries.”
“It sounds like they plan to attack Omega in international waters and stop it there.”
Victoria shouted in horror.
“No!”
“The military can’t stop that thing!”
“You’ll only increase the casualties!”
“But we can’t simply allow Omega to reach land.”
Kevin remained firm.
Victoria stared intensely at Omega through the helicopter window.
They had to find a way to stop it before the military arrived.
Otherwise, more innocent people would inevitably die.
“A way...”
“I need to find a way.”
Victoria gritted her teeth and fell deep into thought.
Beside her, Kevin studied Omega and muttered,
“It is strange, though.”
“How is something that large sustaining its body?”
“The amount of energy it consumes must be enormous.”
No. 5 examined Omega and answered lightly.
“I think those red electrical discharges across its body are the energy source.”
“Every time it moves, sparks scatter around it.”
Just as she said, red sparks had been flashing across Omega’s body ever since they first saw it.
Kevin nodded.
“That makes sense.”
“Is information about Omega automatically written into your mind as well?”
“No.”
“Alpha doesn’t give us information like that.”
“We were created as the Body of God in the first place.”
No. 5 answered calmly.
At that moment, something flashed through Victoria’s mind.
Her eyes widened.
“That’s it!”
“What?”
Kevin looked confused.
Victoria hurriedly explained.
