Chapter 200

Chapter 200. The Destroyer, No. 13 (3)

“Let’s go!”

Victoria shouted with determination as she strapped the jetpack onto her body.

No. 5, standing beside her, looked worried.

“You need to follow me closely. Understood?”

“Don’t worry! I’m a genius! Operating a machine like this is easy!”

Victoria sounded completely confident.

No. 5 did not find her particularly reassuring, but this was hardly the time to argue.

“We’re taking off!”

No. 5 activated her jetpack first.

Compressed air and gas blasted downward, launching her body into the sky.

Victoria immediately followed.

“Okay! Me too!”

Compressed air and exhaust gas burst from the jetpack on her back.

Victoria shot upward as well.

Unlike No. 5, who immediately stabilized herself with practiced ease, Victoria’s trajectory was anything but steady.

Despite her confident start, she suddenly pitched downward toward the nearby sea.

“Aaaaaaaah!”

Victoria screamed and desperately raised her upper body.

Only then did she manage to pull herself back into the air.

No. 5 immediately shouted at her.

“Keep your balance! If you point yourself the wrong way, you’ll fall straight into the sea!”

“Ugh... This is harder than I thought.”

Victoria awkwardly adjusted her posture.

Even then, her body continued wobbling dangerously.

It was a stark contrast to No. 5, who hovered calmly in midair.

Victoria looked at her enviously.

“You’re surprisingly good at this.”

“I’ve used something similar at Abraxas before.”

“I’ll lead. Just follow me.”

No. 5 answered flatly.

Then she activated the jetpack again and climbed higher.

“I can do this too!”

Victoria gritted her teeth and fired up her own jetpack.

At this point, sheer stubbornness would not let her fall behind No. 5.

She quickly climbed after her.

Once they reached a stable altitude, the two carefully approached Omega.

Victoria looked up at the colossal body and muttered in amazement,

“It’s even bigger up close.”

Compared to Omega, Victoria and No. 5 were nothing more than fruit flies beside a giant.

No. 5 studied Omega’s enormous body, then pointed toward one area.

“Omega’s core is around there.”

“Near the center.”

Victoria asked to make sure.

“You’re certain?”

“Yes.”

“I can hear Alpha’s call coming from there.”

No. 5 nodded.

Her eyes remained fixed on the center of Omega’s body.

She was resisting with everything she had, but Alpha’s call from beyond that point was still tightly gripping her mind.

“Good! Then we’ll head straight there!”

Victoria activated her jetpack toward Omega.

Fortunately, perhaps because Omega was so enormous, it showed no reaction to their approach.

No.

More accurately, it simply did not seem to care whether they came closer or not.

“Conserve the compressed air.”

“We don’t have much left.”

“If we keep using it like this, the jetpacks will stop before we even reach our destination.”

No. 5 spoke calmly while looking up at Omega.

Victoria frowned.

“But how else are we supposed to get all the way up there?”

“Why are you worried when I’m here?”

No. 5 used her jetpack to move toward Omega’s body.

Omega’s skin was black and smooth.

But that was nothing to No. 5.

“Grrrrrrr!”

A beastly growl tore from her throat.

At the same time, she tore off the jetpack on her back and hurled it away.

Her skeletal structure twisted.

Her body swelled.

Dark blue scales erupted across her skin.

A whip-like tail extended from her lower back.

In an instant, she manifested her Archon form.

Now resembling a massive lizard, No. 5 landed safely on Omega’s back.

She flicked out her tongue and called to Victoria.

“Come on! Get on my back!”

“O-Okay!”

Understanding her plan, Victoria awkwardly maneuvered toward her with the jetpack.

Then she spread her arms and tightly wrapped them around No. 5’s waist.

Once Victoria was secure on her back, No. 5 shouted,

“Hold on tight!”

“I’m going straight to the core!”

“Please do!”

The instant Victoria answered, No. 5 began racing up Omega’s back at tremendous speed.

Omega’s skin was slick, but it did not seem to slow her at all.

Squirm. Squirm.

Then a lump of flesh suddenly bulged out in the distance and began twitching.

Victoria stared at it in alarm.

“What’s that?”

The flesh wriggled and reshaped itself into a sleek wolf.

No. 5 recognized it immediately.

“That’s a wolf.”

“It looks like Omega is using No. 2’s power.”

“The doggy guy?”

No. 5 snorted at Victoria’s wording.

“You’re probably the only person in the world who would describe No. 2 like that.”

At that moment, the wolf opened its jaws and lunged at them.

Victoria screamed.

“Watch out!”

“Tch!”

No. 5 hurriedly twisted aside.

The wolf narrowly missed them and was absorbed back into Omega’s flesh.

They had somehow avoided that attack.

But it was not over.

More lumps of flesh erupted from Omega’s back.

One by one, they transformed into enormous beasts.

A lion.

A tiger.

A jaguar.

A crocodile.

A gigantic bat.

A shark.

Every one of them was familiar to No. 5.

She clicked her tongue.

“It’s bringing out the Archons one after another.”

Victoria cautiously asked,

“Can you beat them?”

No. 5 immediately shook her head.

“Impossible.”

“Even I can’t fight every Archon head-on.”

“So I’ll do what I’m actually good at.”

“What’s that?”

In answer, No. 5 proudly extended her claws.

Her sharply curved claws and talons were ideal for climbing almost any surface.

And that was still true now.

“I’m the best wall climber among the Archons.”

No. 5 darted up Omega’s back, weaving between the approaching Archons.

The beast-shaped Archons attacked ferociously, but No. 5 gritted her teeth and slipped past them one after another.

“Something’s coming from the left!”

“Dodge!”

Victoria screamed from her back.

No. 5 flinched and instinctively twisted her body.

Something shot past the exact spot she had been standing, leaving a blur behind.

Without Victoria’s warning, the attack would have hit her directly.

“Grrrrrr.”

The creature that had attacked No. 5 growled and adjusted its stance.

Victoria recognized it immediately.

“That’s... Yukgap?”

A fierce-looking cheetah crouched before them, staring as though ready to attack again at any moment.

Victoria had seen that form too many times to mistake it.

“Damn.”

“The fastest Archon has arrived.”

No. 5 looked troubled.

At the same time, the other Archons began closing in again.

At this rate, they would be completely surrounded.

No. 5 quickly spoke to Victoria, who was clinging to her back.

“Victoria Frankenstein, listen carefully from here on.”

“Just call me Victoria!”

No. 5 continued while watching the approaching Archons.

“I’ll act as bait.”

“When the Archons focus on me, you head for the core.”

“And stop Omega.”

“What?”

“I can’t go alone!”

Victoria protested.

But No. 5 remained firm.

“This isn’t the time to be stubborn!”

“Omega will clash with the military soon.”

“We have to stop it before that happens!”

“I won’t let anyone else die!”

There was an almost desperate sincerity in No. 5’s words.

It was completely unlike the woman Victoria had first met.

Back then, No. 5 had laughed while mercilessly disassembling people and killing them.

“You really have changed a lot.”

No. 5 smiled bitterly.

“Everyone in this world was probably someone’s beloved child.”

“Someone they loved more than their own life.”

“I... I killed countless people like that.”

“I know there’s no path to forgiveness for me.”

As she spoke, the image of one child appeared in her mind.

They had met only briefly.

Yet the warmth radiating from that small, fragile life had been enough to change everything inside No. 5.

“But I refuse to create any more people who have to grieve.”

After hearing that, Victoria could no longer argue.

“Okay.”

“I’ll concentrate my nanomachines.”

“I’ll disassemble Omega as deeply as possible.”

“Use that opening and fly to the core with your jetpack.”

“And no matter what it takes, stop Omega.”

“Yeah.”

“I’ll do it somehow.”

Victoria nodded, accepting No. 5’s resolve.

Once they were ready, No. 5 bit down hard on her own arm.

A hazy red mist immediately rose from the wound.

She was activating the nanomachines in her blood, her overtechnology weapon.

“Go!”

No. 5 thrust out her arm.

The nanomachines concentrated on one point.

Omega’s body began rapidly disintegrating.

Its smooth black skin melted away as chunks of flesh dropped from the wound.

This was their chance.

“Here I go!”

Victoria activated her jetpack again.

Compressed air and gas exploded downward, launching her high into the air.

No. 5 deliberately moved in the opposite direction and shouted,

“I’m over here!”

“Come take me to Alpha!”

The Archons immediately surged toward No. 5.

While their attention shifted to her, Victoria quickly reached the opening.

“This is it.”

Thanks to No. 5’s desperate effort, the area had been disassembled much more deeply than expected.

A large hole had formed.

It was easily wide enough for Victoria to enter.

Leaving the blood and chunks of flesh spilling around her behind, Victoria squeezed inside.

I have to stop Omega somehow.

That single determination burned fiercely inside her.
