Chapter 31

Chapter 31. A Golem’s Jealousy Is Not a Crime (3)

[I’ll inject strong coffee directly into your digestive organs!]

Robert’s bizarre mechanical voice thundered through the restaurant.

At the same time, all kinds of weapons emerged from his chest armor and arms.

Every single one looked vicious.

“Calm down, scrap heap!”

Yukgap shouted and stepped in front of Robert.

But Robert did not seem to hear him at all.

[Drink strong coffee!]

With those words, the weapons protruding from Robert’s body opened fire in every direction.

Something sharp and fast slammed into Yukgap’s chest with a loud burst.

“Ghk!”

A stinging pain spread across his chest, forcing him to stagger backward.

Victoria screamed when she saw it.

“Yukgap!”

“I-I took it directly!”

Yukgap immediately looked down at his chest.

But contrary to what he expected, there was no wound.

His clothes were simply soaked in brown liquid.

“This is... coffee?”

What had struck him was not a bullet.

It was freshly brewed coffee.

Robert aimed all the weapons on his body at Yukgap.

[Correct. I increased the water pressure dramatically so I can inject it directly into the bodies of you lumps of flesh. With this, I can pierce your bodies and pour coffee directly inside.]

Brown coffee dripped from the ends of Robert’s weapons.

So after all that, he had only fired coffee.

Yukgap could not help laughing.

“Hah. You’re planning to fight me with a glorified water gun?”

[Of course I know this is insufficient against you.]

Robert raised both arms.

Long metal pipes emerged from them.

The ends of the pipes were sharpened like blades.

[Therefore, I prepared these!]

The tips gleamed.

Victoria immediately warned Yukgap.

“Get down, Yukgap!”

Yukgap instinctively sensed danger and dropped his body.

Coffee shot from the end of the pipe.

BOOM!

The stream carved a long line through the air and sliced the table behind Yukgap cleanly in half.

“W-What the hell?!”

Yukgap stared in disbelief.

Robert gave a low, mocking laugh.

[As expected, you are fast. I knew this would not kill you.]

Victoria hurriedly explained,

“That’s a Water Jet! It’s an advanced machining technique that uses ultra-high-pressure liquid to cut through things. Its cutting power can exceed that of most lasers!”

“Why does that scrap heap have something like that installed?!”

Yukgap demanded.

Victoria gave an embarrassed little smile.

“When I was adding the coffee machine function, I thought it might be fun, so I installed it too. Teehee.”

“What do you mean, ‘teehee’?!”

Apparently, Victoria had once again installed random features into Robert just because she thought they would be entertaining.

Robert roared while firing coffee through the Water Jet.

[I will force coffee into your bones and flesh!]

The high-pressure coffee streams began cutting through everything nearby.

Anything that touched them would be sliced apart instantly.

“Aaaaaah! Dodge!”

Yukgap shouted and ran.

The Salmon Rice Bowl Brothers fled in panic as well.

“We only wanted one cup of coffee! Why does this keep happening to us?!”

“Why do we have to risk our lives every time we eat here?!”

Yukgap found the entire situation just as ridiculous.

“You think I know?! Run!”

Robert’s eyes glowed red as he shouted.

[Running is useless, pitiful lumps of flesh! Have you forgotten I possess infrared detection?!]

There was an almost insane determination in him.

He clearly intended to chase them down and force coffee into at least one stomach.

At that moment, the restaurant door suddenly opened.

Jingle.

An unexpected visitor appeared.

“Is anyone here? I came to collect payment for the kimchi.”

It was Seryun.

Having no idea what was happening, he looked perfectly calm.

Yukgap immediately shouted at him.

“Run, Lee Seryun!”

“What? Why?”

Seryun looked confused.

Then Robert noticed fresh prey and charged at him.

[Drink strong coffee!]

A stream of coffee blasted from Robert’s arm.

It drew a brown line through the air and instantly cut Seryun’s body apart.

“Gaaah!”

Seryun screamed and collapsed.

His severed head rolled across the floor.

Robert shouted triumphantly.

[Did you see that, foolish lumps of flesh? This is what happens to those who reject my coffee!]

Yukgap cautiously spoke to Seryun’s severed head.

“A-Are you okay?”

Seryun glared at him irritably.

“Do I look okay to you? I may be undead, but having my head separated from my body is still unpleasant.”

“Sorry. Our scrap heap suddenly went crazy.”

“Hmm. It’s rare for a golem to go berserk like this.”

Still only a head, Seryun thought for a moment before rolling toward Victoria.

Then he stared at her.

“Doctor, do you have any idea what might have caused this?”

Victoria flinched.

Then she avoided his eyes.

“W-What? I didn’t do anything strange!”

She looked painfully guilty.

Yukgap stared at her suspiciously.

“Really?”

“...”

“So you did.”

Victoria finally mumbled,

“Maybe I did a little.”

“What did you do?”

Victoria answered in a tiny voice.

“Well... while installing the coffee machine, I thought it would be fun, so I added an automatic target-acquisition system, a semi-automatic laser Vulcan cannon, a liquid explosive sprayer, a final self-destruct function, and...”

“You put that much stuff in him?!”

“I also loaded two hundred and fifty illegally downloaded dramas.”

“...Why would you put those in there?”

Yukgap asked in disbelief.

Victoria immediately defended herself.

“B-But I had to hide them from the authorities! Do you think those stupid cops would ever imagine I hid illegally downloaded videos inside a golem?”

Seryun cautiously offered a theory.

“I think that may be the problem.”

Meanwhile, Robert spun around wildly while spraying coffee everywhere.

[Hahahaha! Drink strong coffee! Hahahaha!]

Seryun watched him and continued.

“The illegally downloaded dramas probably interfered with the golem’s computational functions. That may be why his behavior became so extreme.”

“Aaaaaah, Robert... this is all my fault...”

Only then did Victoria realize what she had done.

She collapsed in despair.

Yukgap quickly asked Seryun,

“Then what do we do?”

“What else? There’s only one method for fixing a machine.”

Seryun added with hollow eyes,

“Turn it off and back on.”

“R-Robert.”

Victoria cautiously approached him.

Robert beeped.

[Doctor, would you like coffee?]

“No. I’m fine.”

[Why do you refuse? Was it not the Doctor who made me this way?]

A threatening mechanical hum came from Robert’s body.

He stared at Victoria with glowing eyes.

[When you think about it, this is all the Doctor’s fault.]

There was resentment in his voice.

[Why did you bring another machine into the restaurant besides me? I was loyal to the Doctor and gave everything I had! Why did you let that shameless machine steal your attention?!]

Victoria hurriedly apologized.

“I’m sorry, Robert! This is all my fault!”

[It is too late. The kind and gentle Robert the Doctor once knew no longer exists. Only a coffee machine starving for blood and slaughter remains!]

Robert roared with madness.

Then he suddenly leaned backward.

[And...!]

Behind him, Yukgap was quietly approaching.

Realizing his surprise attack had been noticed, Yukgap clicked his tongue.

“Tch. You saw me.”

[The Doctor distracted me while you intended to attack from behind. Your strategy is too obvious.]

Yukgap grinned.

“Don’t worry. I’m not the real surprise attack.”

[What?]

Robert sensed something was wrong and quickly turned his head.

Victoria’s expression hardened.

Then she shouted,

“Code Black! Code Black! Code Black! Repeating, Code Black!”

[D-Doctor, th-that is...!]

“Voice recognition confirmed! Password T-344324342! And V-3935634!”

Robert’s body twisted in pain.

[Uuuugh!]

“Open your computational control system!”

Victoria shouted.

A panel on Robert’s head opened.

Complex machinery emerged from inside.

Victoria cheered.

“Got it! When Robert hears the voice password, he’s programmed to open his computational adjustment system! Now all we have to do is access that part and reboot him!”

Apparently, that was the equivalent of Robert’s brain.

[No... I cannot lose myself like this... not before I fulfill my mission...]

Robert struggled to speak after his computational control system was forcibly exposed.

Then his eyes suddenly turned white.

Black smoke erupted from the gaps between his components.

Yukgap instinctively realized something was wrong.

“What are you planning?”

Robert answered with a scream.

[If you tamper with my computational control functions, the current me will effectively cease to exist! In that case, I will take all of you with me!]

Victoria went pale.

“Oh my God! Robert activated the final self-destruct function! Everything within a three-kilometer radius is going to burn away without a trace!”

“What?! Why the hell did you install something like that?!”

Yukgap demanded.

Victoria gave her usual shy smile.

“Teehee.”

Yukgap immediately understood what that meant.

“You installed it just because you thought it would be fun, didn’t you?!”
