Chapter 60. Cheetahman, the Hero of Justice (4)
Seongryeol’s eyes sparkled as he cheered.
“That’s so cool! I didn’t know Mom was a hero!”
“Well... I’m not supposed to let even my family find out my secret identity.”
Subin made up the excuse on the spot.
Seongryeol pouted.
“Is that why you haven’t been coming to see me?”
At those words, Subin felt a pang in her chest.
What was she supposed to say?
After hesitating, she finally nodded.
“Sorry. I’ve been really busy with hero work.”
“That’s okay! I guess heroes can get busy!”
Seongryeol accepted her excuse immediately.
He seemed so thrilled by the fact that his mother was secretly a hero that nothing else mattered.
Subin awkwardly tried to cover her grotesquely distorted body.
“Doesn’t this look weird?”
“It looks cool.”
But Seongryeol only stared at her in fascination.
Only after hearing that did Subin finally breathe a sigh of relief.
“Really? Thank goodness.”
She had been terrified that her son might hate this form just as much as her ex-husband had.
That one sentence from Seongryeol meant more to her than she could express.
“Ugh... Aaaagh!”
Taking advantage of the moment, the teacher slipped free from Subin’s arm.
She screamed and ran blindly forward.
“And where do you think you’re going?”
Victoria stepped in front of her.
She clenched her fist and swung hard.
“Clench your teeth!”
“Ghk!”
The punch landed cleanly.
The teacher let out a strangled cry and immediately passed out.
Victoria snorted in satisfaction.
“Stay down and think about what you did.”
Watching from a short distance away, Yukgap breathed lightly.
“Looks like things are mostly settled over there.”
The ground around him was covered in severed tentacles and bodily fluid.
All of it had been cut from the broker.
“What are you going to do now? Looks like even your regeneration is reaching its limit.”
Yukgap warned him while gripping daggers in both hands.
He had been cutting the man apart relentlessly, but the broker was far more persistent than expected.
Even while screaming, he kept forcing his modified body to move and fight back.
“I’ve heard a little about your kind.”
The broker, exhausted and covered in wounds, looked at Yukgap.
“A chimera weapon made by combining humans and animals... One of Abraxas’s Archons, right?”
Yukgap flinched and immediately denied it.
“Shut up! I’m Cheetahman!”
He had never imagined he would say such a childish hero name with a straight face.
But for now, he had to keep his identity hidden.
“If Abraxas knew one of the weapons they created was out here playing superhero, I bet they’d be speechless.”
The broker chuckled from the ground.
Then he suddenly pulled a small syringe from his pocket.
Yukgap immediately sensed something was wrong.
“What are you planning?”
“Everyone has a last resort, don’t they?”
With those words, the broker stabbed the syringe hard into his own neck.
A tearing scream burst from his mouth.
“Aaaaaaaaagh!”
Victoria quickly called out,
“Cheetahman! What’s happening?”
“I don’t know! This bastard just injected himself with something!”
Yukgap was just as confused.
The broker’s body began twitching violently.
Then his flesh started bubbling and swelling.
Subin immediately recognized what he had done.
“That’s a cellular rampage drug! It’s something that circulates in the underworld. His mutated cells are about to go completely out of control!”
Yukgap glared at the broker in disgust.
“You lunatic! You injected that into yourself?”
“If I’m fighting an Abraxas Archon, this much is only natural... Nghhh!”
The broker’s body shuddered.
Grotesquely swollen masses of flesh burst outward.
They surged up so violently that they almost resembled a fountain.
Then they began rapidly spreading across the entire area.
“Run! If that catches us, I don’t think we’re walking away unharmed!”
Yukgap quickly backed away and shouted a warning.
Victoria immediately gave orders.
“Get to the bus! If we stay here, the children will get caught in it too!”
At the same time, she hoisted the unconscious teacher and the driver trapped by the pumpkin-soup tentacles onto her shoulders.
Neither of them had regained consciousness.
“What about them?”
Yukgap asked.
Victoria threw both of them into the bus parked nearby.
“Loaded!”
“Good! Let’s get out of here!”
Yukgap hurried onto the bus as well.
Subin grabbed her son’s hand and ran with all her strength.
“Seongryeol, let’s go!”
“Okay!”
Mother and son made it onto the bus safely.
“What’s wrong with all the kids?”
Yukgap looked around once he was inside.
The other kindergarteners were still sleeping deeply, completely unaware of everything that had happened.
“Looks like they were exposed to sleeping gas. Fortunately, I don’t see any other injuries.”
Victoria quickly checked them, then suddenly sat in the driver’s seat.
She started the engine and shouted,
“Okay, we’re moving!”
Yukgap asked nervously,
“Do you know how to drive a bus?”
