Chapter 30

# I Became the Loan Shark Queen’s Grandson!

## Chapter 30

Seoul, Yeouido.

Samjeong Securities VIP room.

The prices on the large monitor showing the U.S. market were changing in real time.

Choi Mi-jeong managed Kang Taesan’s account while watching the two stocks he had purchased.

WidePoint C, WYY.

FirstEnergy, FE.

Both stocks were rising much faster than expected.

The charts were climbing almost like straight lines.

The value of Kang Taesan’s account was increasing visibly.

Choi Mi-jeong watched the screen with an expressionless face.

Then muttered quietly,

“This isn’t an ordinary stock.”

She tapped on her calculator.

Then quietly opened her personal account.

Her hands remained calm.

Her expression didn’t change.

She bought ten million won worth of WidePoint C.

And another ten million won worth of FirstEnergy.

Then smiled.

***

A multi-family house in northern Seoul.

Night.

Han Mi-suk held a glass of water with both hands.

“Can we really... win?”

Her voice was small and trembling.

Her anxiety was obvious.

I answered shortly.

“We will.”

My confidence was clear.

“Those people are frightening.”

“That’s why we’re keeping it simple. Court. Evidence. Official seals. We don’t need emotion.”

Han Mi-suk nodded.

Her eyes turned red.

“My husband asked me today whether he really has the right.”

“Tell him he does. The documents prove it.”

I lightly patted her back.

“And keep paying one hundred thousand won on the tenth of every month. Just keep that promise. Nothing else.”

Han Mi-suk wiped her tears with the back of her hand.

Her breathing remained rough.

But her expression had become firmer.

The fear was still there.

Yet one part of her heart had begun to settle.

At that moment, footsteps came from outside.

Manager Park appeared through the doorway.

“It’s quiet outside. We have men rotating shifts.”

“Thank you.”

Manager Park nodded.

Then spoke shortly.

“Now we push forward.”

Documents were neatly stacked on the table.

Copies of bank records.

Tax-office records.

Real estate property registrations.

And another newly arrived certificate.

I opened the file.

“Now there’s no reason to be shaken no matter what the other side says. Everything is in the numbers on these documents.”

Manager Park immediately agreed.

“Yes. The eldest son’s side is already getting nervous. The land is under provisional seizure and the accounts are being tracked. There’s nowhere left to escape.”

Han Mi-suk quietly asked,

“What if... the judge takes their side?”

I answered firmly.

“That won’t happen if the evidence is overwhelming. As long as we follow procedure, the law can’t simply ignore the documents.”

Manager Park confirmed it too.

“Yes. The preservation orders we prepared are solid. Hospital records, notary movements, tax filings. Everything is included.”

I closed the documents.

“Good. All that remains is time. Once the hearing begins, we simply show the evidence one sheet at a time.”

Silence passed.

The outside world was quiet.

But the tension inside the room became heavier.

Han Mi-suk carefully asked again,

“Then... when will this be over?”

“At worst, a year. But I intend to finish it within six months.”

“Can it really happen that quickly?”

“They can’t deny the evidence. If anything, they’ll try to delay. But that becomes more dangerous for them. The longer they delay, the more attempts to conceal assets come to light.”

Manager Park spoke firmly.

“Yes. There are already rumors that the eldest son’s side is reorganizing internal documents. But they’re too late. We already secured enough.”

I emphasized again.

“In the end, numbers are what matter. We’ll present accounts and documents. No emotion gets mixed into it.”

Han Mi-suk closed her eyes.

Fear remained.

But relief slowly began taking its place.

***

The hallway of Seoul Central District Court.

The eldest son’s representative approached quickly with a thick document bag.

A pen was tucked into the breast pocket of his suit.

His expression was stiff.

There was no confidence on his face.

Our lawyer gave him a short nod.

It was polite.

But tension filled his eyes.

The eldest son’s side spoke first.

“The plaintiff’s reserved-share claim is excessive. We’ll challenge the total value of the inherited estate first.”

Our lawyer answered calmly.

“That’s why factual inquiries are being made. We can argue the details in court.”

I stepped forward.

“I’ll say one thing. There’s still room for negotiation. We can talk in numbers.”

My voice was calm.

But I was tense inside.

The other lawyer sneered.

“We have no interest in an agreement outside court.”

I answered firmly.

“Then we can finish it inside court.”

The atmosphere in the hallway tightened.

Even other people passing through slowed their steps.

The representatives of two sides faced each other.

Only a few sentences had been exchanged.

But it felt no different from battle.

Our lawyer took out a file.

“The property-disclosure order has already been served. Omission can lead to penalties, and false statements can become a serious legal problem. Prepare carefully.”

The other lawyer narrowed his eyes.

“We’ll challenge the validity of the reserved-share claim through the will first. The deceased’s final intention must be respected.”

“The will has multiple procedural defects.”

Our lawyer immediately responded.

“The notarization time and location don’t match the records. The judge will examine that personally.”

The other side briefly bit his lip.

Then forced a smile.

“Ultimately, the judgment will take a long time. That’s our strategy.”

I smiled calmly.

“Time is on our side. The longer the concealment attempts continue, the more evidence accumulates.”

At the far end of the hallway, the sound of court staff moving documents echoed.

Even the smallest sound added to the tension.

Our lawyer continued.

“Factual inquiries have already gone to the banks and tax office. Gift history and deposit movement from the last ten years will all become evidence. There’s nowhere to run.”

The other lawyer muttered,

“Property is property, but reputation also matters. Any judge will take that into consideration.”

I cut him off firmly.

“Judges look at numbers and evidence. Reputation is not evidence.”

At that moment, a court employee approached from the end of the hallway.

“The preparatory hearing has been scheduled for three weeks from now. The notice will be served shortly.”

Everyone raised their heads at the same time.

The moment the date was fixed...

The battlefield was decided.

Court.

The eldest son’s lawyer spoke one last time.

“We’ll see you in court.”

I answered shortly.

“Yes. Let’s finish it in court.”

As we left the courthouse, the lawyer whispered to me.

“Client, even if they try to delay, we already have strong evidence. Just looking at them today, they seem nervous.”

I tightened my grip on my bag strap.

A thick case file was inside.

That weight was the force pulling the judgment toward us.

I was ready to carry it.

***

Morning of the preparatory hearing.

Seoul Central District Court.

Courtroom 304.

The judge turned through the briefs.

Inside the silent courtroom, only the sound of pages echoed.

The piles of documents spread across the wooden desk made the atmosphere heavier.

Every gaze in the gallery followed the judge’s hands.

“The plaintiff seeks return of the reserved inheritance share, while the defendant disputes the scope of the inherited estate. I will consolidate the property-disclosure process and factual inquiries.”

Our lawyer immediately stood.

His straight suit looked almost like a drawn blade.

“Your Honor, we additionally request factual inquiries regarding hospital records and the circumstances of the notarization immediately before the funeral.”

The judge gave a short nod.

His gaze didn’t waver.

His voice carried firm authority.

“Granted. The next hearing will be one month from today.”

The eldest son’s representative stood and held up documents.

The papers trembled slightly in his hand.

His voice was forced to remain calm.

“We submit a copy of the will. This reflects the deceased’s true intention—”

The judge raised his hand.

The gesture was firm.

The atmosphere became heavier.

“We’ll examine that during the evidentiary stage. Today, we’re organizing procedure.”

The gavel lightly struck the desk.

It was a short sound.

But heavy.

Everyone in the gallery looked up at once.

My heart pounded.

The real fight had begun.

There was no turning back.

I stood and bowed toward the judge.

Everyone who had been sitting quietly in the courtroom rose together.

It was only a short moment.

But everyone could sense the next battle coming.

The hearing had ended.

The fight had only begun.

When we stepped into the hallway, the eldest brother was waiting.

His fingers tightly gripped the collar of his suit.

His eyes were sharp.

He ground his teeth and spoke quietly.

“Don’t think this is over.”

I stopped walking.

Then answered softly.

Determination filled every word.

“It’s only beginning.”

The eldest brother’s face hardened.

Open hostility appeared in his expression.

His lips pressed tightly together.

His knuckles turned white from how hard he clenched his fist.

I gave a short smile and added,

“And sometime tonight, another interesting piece of paper should arrive. You can look forward to it.”

The eldest brother narrowed his eyes.

He didn’t answer.

He simply turned and walked away.

The sound of his heels echoed through the hallway.

The long corridor amplified each step until it sounded almost like the beating of war drums.

Our lawyer whispered beside me.

He couldn’t completely hide the tension from moments earlier.

“Client, today’s procedure was organized very quickly. We have one month until the next hearing. During that time, we need to make sure they can’t conceal evidence.”

“Exactly as expected.”

I gave a short nod.

“Tonight, the tax office response should arrive. Once the gift records appear, the entire game changes.”

Kim Dong-su exhaled in relief.

His shoulders lowered slightly.

“Taesan, today went well.”

I answered firmly.

Each word strengthened my own resolve.

“No. Today was only the beginning. Inside court, only numbers and evidence remain. Emotion disappears completely.”

My voice didn’t shake.

My determination grew even firmer.

The lawyer adjusted his document bag.

The files inside had already become weapons.

“Yes, client. Until the next hearing, we’ll continue searching for concealed assets. If they delay, the delay itself can become evidence.”

I immediately instructed him.

“Update the bank-account tracing every week. Don’t miss even the smallest movement.”

“Understood.”

A car was waiting outside the courthouse.

When the door opened, cold, heavy air came inside.

I placed the bag on my lap.

“The preparatory brief we submitted today was already enough to pressure them. The eldest brother’s face told us that.”

The lawyer agreed.

“Yes. Getting factual inquiries approved for the hospital records and the notarization process was damaging to them. The very things they wanted to avoid are now becoming formal evidence.”

Kim Dong-su muttered,

His voice trembled slightly, but there was hope in it.

“Taesan, the Pangyo family will start shaking now.”

I cut in firmly.

“Shaking is only the beginning.”

I looked ahead.

“Next, we’ll watch them collapse.”

The courthouse slowly disappeared through the window.

The building looked like a signal marking the beginning of the war.

The battle that had started there would now become a month-long exchange.

Paper and numbers.

Evidence and official seals.

A war fought through documents.

And I had already stepped onto that battlefield.
