Chapter 45

Chapter 45: Superior Hybrid Rakshasa Pokgwi (1)

“Ugh... What the hell happened now?”

I pulled myself out of the damaged wall and looked around.

The impact had been so strong that my face still felt numb.

Sera remained embedded in the wall nearby.

She seemed unconscious.

Then I looked toward the entrance.

The receptionist who had guided Aize and me earlier stood there smiling.

Several of the modeling trainees who had watched Aize’s test stood beside her.

“What?”

I frowned.

“You’re all evil spirits too?”

If they remained inside the Ghost Domain, they obviously weren’t normal humans.

“Correct!”

The receptionist made an intentionally cute expression.

“This is a place where premium ingredients gather because they dream about becoming models.”

She spread her arms.

“To us, this is basically a luxury restaurant.”

Then she pointed toward the trainees.

“We originally planned to use those girls as ingredients too.”

“But their soul wavelengths matched some of our Gwanggwi nicely, so we simply placed Gwanggwi inside them instead.”

I narrowed my eyes.

“You know I’m the Inhwang Chasa and you’re still relaxed.”

I studied her.

“So you must be another member of the Ten Ghost Kings.”

“That’s right.”

The cute atmosphere around her disappeared.

“I am Irene Jung.”

Her expression became vicious.

“Fourth Ghost of the Ten Ghost Kings.”

She smiled.

“Rakshasa Pokgwi.”

Then her smile became colder.

“And I am also the younger sister of Violence Demon Gwanhyung, whom you killed.”

“So I killed your older brother.”

I tilted my head.

“Does that make me your sworn enemy?”

“Not particularly.”

Irene shrugged.

“We were never very close.”

She smiled.

“In our previous life, I was actually the one who killed my brother Gwanhyung.”

I stared at her.

“He was nothing but a stupid brute with strength.”

She continued calmly.

“I couldn’t simply sit back and watch someone like him become king.”

“So you killed your own brother?”

“Not only him.”

Irene’s eyes gleamed.

“I killed every man who had a chance of becoming king.”

From my point of view, she sounded less like a political mastermind and more like a murderer obsessed with power.

I began counting on my fingers.

“Gwanhyung was Eighth Ghost.”

“Sera, the Pokyo-gwi I just fought, is Tenth Ghost.”

I looked at Irene.

“If you’re Fourth Ghost, that means your rank is pretty high.”

Conclusion.

She was probably strong.

At that moment, Sera regained consciousness and fell from the wall.

“Grrr....”

She looked toward Irene.

“Fourth Ghost... forgive me.”

Her voice was weak.

“I showed you something pathetic.”

“Tenth Ghost.”

Irene’s expression remained calm.

“That man is the Inhwang Chasa.”

“My brother Violence Demon Gwanhyung couldn’t defeat him either.”

She looked at Sera.

“Trying to fight him alone was your first mistake.”

If I were in Irene’s position, I might have smacked Sera around out of embarrassment.

Instead, she simply corrected her verbally.

For evil spirits, that seemed surprisingly generous.

The Ten Ghost Kings appeared much more organized and cooperative than I had expected.

Even Gwanhyung and Irene seemed to ignore the fact that they had killed each other in their previous lives.

Maybe they bonded in prison.

Then another thought came to me.

Maybe there was an overwhelmingly powerful existence keeping all these evil spirits united.

Their so-called Queen?

Or perhaps former Iljik Chasa Taerang, the man who had escaped Hell with the Three Evils of the Underworld.

Aize’s quiet voice reached me.

“Inhwang.”

“Yes?”

“Among Pokgwi, there are beings called Superior Hybrids.”

She sounded cautious.

“Most Superior Hybrids gained unusual abilities by devouring beings far stronger than themselves.”

She continued.

“That evil spirit is called Rakshasa Pokgwi.”

“So judging from the name, she probably ate a Rakshasa Woman.”

Aize became serious.

“Be careful.”

What’s a Rakshasa Woman?

“They are female Underworld Chasa.”

Aize explained.

“They are specially selected from among heavenly maidens.”

So basically female police officers of the Underworld.

The image reminded me slightly of Officer Kim.

Can evil spirits actually eat divine beings too?

“If they’re strong enough.”

Aize answered.

“Eating weaker beings gives them almost nothing.”

“But eating something stronger can increase their power tremendously.”

Her voice lowered.

“And as a bonus, they usually gain one unusual ability.”

Now I understood why Sera, despite also being one of the Ten Ghost Kings, acted so submissively toward Irene.

I activated Ghost Eye.

[Soul Type: Evil Spirit]

[Evil Spirit Type: Massacre Demon]

[Evil Spirit Rank: Pokgwi, Superior Hybrid]

[Hybrid Status: Hybrid of Rakshasa and Pokgwi]

[Past-Life Karma: Killed the king and all his children in Geonma Kingdom of Mahan and became queen.]

Massacre Demon?

Aize answered my unspoken question.

“It means she didn’t kill only one or two people.”

“She killed an enormous number.”

Judging by the information, Irene must have slaughtered not only Gwanhyung and her political rivals, but also their followers.

“Miss Rakshasa Pokgwi.”

I smiled.

“Did you eat a Rakshasa Woman?”

I wanted confirmation.

“Hehehe.”

Irene laughed.

“How did you know?”

Then she answered proudly.

“Yes. I devoured Wol-Rakshasa.”

Aize almost screamed inside my head.

“What?! Impossible!”

Her shock was obvious.

“Wol-Rakshasa was one of the Three Great Rakshasa!”

“A mere Pokgwi should never have been able to eat someone like her!”

Three Great Rakshasa?

“Yes.”

Aize quickly explained.

“Cheon-Rakshasa, Ji-Rakshasa, and Wol-Rakshasa.”

“They are collectively known as the Three Great Rakshasa.”

“They are Nahan-class beings among Underworld Chasa, near the very top.”

She sounded stunned.

“Even Secret Chasa Captain Jeonghu would not dare fight one of them.”

“And I heard Wol-Rakshasa died when the Three Evils of the Underworld escaped....”

Then there had to be something else behind this.

Irene smiled.

“Hehehe.”

“Does it seem strange that I ate Wol-Rakshasa?”

She shrugged.

“Of course it does.”

“A mere Pokgwi like me could never defeat Wol-Rakshasa.”

Then she smiled proudly.

“Dae-ryeok Magwi was the one who killed her.”

Her eyes narrowed.

“I merely ate Wol-Rakshasa after she had already been beaten half to death.”

She had answered the question before I even asked.

And she gave away something extremely useful as a bonus.

“Ohhh?”

I grinned.

“Then the Queen you keep talking about must be Dae-ryeok Magwi, the youngest of the Three Evils of the Underworld.”

“....”

Irene’s face twisted as though she had bitten into something disgusting.

Aize became excited.

“Inhwang, great sense!”

“Now we may actually be able to find where Dae-ryeok Magwi is hiding.”

Yeah. Assuming these idiots keep answering my questions.

Aize’s praise put me in a good mood.

Irene’s face darkened.

“Ngh....”

She glared at me.

“If I do not rip out that tongue of yours and eat it with dinner tonight, I will never be able to sleep.”

“That might be difficult.”

I stuck my tongue slightly against the inside of my cheek.

“I’ve got some white coating on it today.”

I smiled.

“It probably tastes awful.”

“If you eat it, you might get indigestion and lose even more sleep.”

Irene trembled.

“I will tear that mouth apart.”

“If you tear my mouth apart, are you still going to pull out my tongue?”

I thought seriously.

“Or do you tear first, then pull?”

“Pull first, then tear?”

“Which order?”

“Ngh... Somebody shut that mouth!”

I shrugged.

“You should do it yourself.”

“Why ask someone else?”

I grinned.

“You petty woman.”

“Aaaaaagh!”

Irene grabbed her hair and screamed as though she were losing her mind.

Sera and the other Gwanggwi could only watch their superior explode in rage.

Aize sounded impressed.

“As expected, when it comes to your mouth, you truly are the strongest beneath Heaven.”

This much is easy.

It’s easier than eating porridge while chewing gum.

“....”

Irene suddenly roared.

“RAKSHASA MANIFESTATION!”

“Huh?”

I stared.

“What is she doing?”

Aize immediately shouted.

“Rakshasa Manifestation!”

“She’s borrowing the form of the Rakshasa she devoured!”

Her voice became urgent.

“Move! She’s going to get huge!”

“Grrrrrrrr....”

Irene’s body began changing.

Her flesh became soft and distorted.

Then she began growing.

Larger.

Larger.

RUMBLE!

Her expanding body smashed through the basement ceiling.

“Yeah. Let’s get out of here first.”

The building was going to collapse.

“Black Spirit Air-Walking Art! Fierce Dragon Step!”

I used Fierce Dragon Step and instantly moved from the basement to the first floor.

Then...

“Phoenix Step!”

The moment I reached the first floor, I used Phoenix Step again and teleported outside.

RUMBLE-RUMBLE-RUMBLE!

The five-story building housing Crisis Model Line began collapsing.

Dust and concrete fragments filled the air like fog.

A gigantic shadow appeared within it.

“Is that really the woman from earlier?”

I couldn’t believe my eyes.

She was more than twenty meters tall.

Her long hair exploded wildly around her head like a bird’s nest.

Her skin and eyes were blood-red.

Long, fluttering wing-like ribbons hung around her body.

Her entire body bulged with muscles.

Her enormous breasts rose like burial mounds.

Each hand held a different weapon.

One was a massive great blade over ten meters long.

The other was an equally large circular moon blade.

“Wow.”

I stared upward.

“She became ridiculously huge.”

“That appears to be Iron-Blood Giantess.”

Aize sounded worried.

“It was originally Wol-Rakshasa’s specialty.”

“Rakshasa Pokgwi probably transformed the technique into an evil-spirit version after devouring her.”

I suddenly wondered something.

Aize.

“Yes?”

Could the Three Evils of the Underworld also have become powerful by eating divine beings?

Seeing Irene’s enormous form made me curious.

If monsters like this worshiped the Three Evils, how powerful were those Magwi?

And how had they become that powerful?

“I don’t know the exact details.”

Aize answered.

“But I heard the Three Evils were originally not ordinary humans.”

“They were extremely high-ranking Immortals.”

I accidentally shouted aloud.

“What?!”

I stared upward.

“Then were the Three Evils originally as strong as the Jade Emperor or Chicken Grandpa?!”

Irene heard me.

“Kekeke.”

Her enormous voice echoed.

“I do not know what foolish thoughts are passing through your head.”

“But our Magwi Lords are beings far greater than the Jade Emperor or King Yeomra.”

Aize immediately responded.

“She’s lying.”

“That isn’t true.”

She sounded annoyed.

“They were probably around the level of Palhwang True Immortal.”

They were Immortals? Then why did they become evil spirits?

“I don’t know that part either.”

As always, it felt like Aize skipped the most important part.

I shouted toward Irene.

“Hey, giant woman!”

“You’re terrible at lying.”

I pointed upward.

“If the Three Evils really were stronger than the Jade Emperor and King Yeomra, they would have conquered Heaven a thousand years ago.”

I smiled.

“Isn’t that obvious?”

“Kekeke.”

Irene looked down at me.

“Fool.”

“The reason they failed back then was because of Inhwang Chasa Taebaek.”

Her lips twisted.

“With the Magwi Lords’ current strength, destroying Heaven would be simple.”

I pointed toward myself.

“Hey!”

“I’m the Inhwang Chasa.”

I grinned.

“By your own logic, that means your precious Magwi Lords are finished again.”

“....”

For a moment, she actually had no answer.

At least verbally, I had successfully damaged her morale.

“Grrrr.”

Sera stepped forward.

“Rakshasa Pokgwi.”

“That man is not Taebaek.”

Her eyes narrowed at me.

“He is nothing more than a delinquent detective.”

“So you do not need to be deceived by his words.”

Irene’s confidence returned.

“Kekeke.”

“That is true.”

She raised the enormous great blade.

“First, I’ll deal with that mouth.”

Her smile widened.

“Taste my Taewoldo.”

The massive blade rose overhead.

“Moon Shadow Slash!”

The strike was said to be capable of cutting even the moon.

WHOOOOOM!

“Urgh!”

Even before the Taewoldo reached me, the violent sword wind stung my face.

BOOOOM!

The blade crashed downward at terrifying speed.

I raised the Black Spirit Demonic Spear horizontally and blocked it.

“Ghk!”

The pressure was enormous.

Both my feet sank into the concrete.

Aize, are you okay?

I was more worried about Aize than myself.

She was the one directly blocking the Taewoldo.

“I’m fine.”

Aize answered confidently.

“I may not look like it, but I was forged from Heavenly Tempered Iron, the strongest metal in Heaven.”

Then her voice suddenly became urgent.

“Inhwang! Watch out!”

The Ten-Thousand-Poison Snake-Scorpion Whip flew toward me from the side.

The other Gwanggwi also threw daggers created from their bodies.

I was still trapped beneath the pressure of Irene’s Taewoldo.

I couldn’t move.

The Gwanggwi daggers could probably be stopped by my Inhwang Chasa uniform, which was formed from Black Spirit Energy.

But Sera’s poisoned whip was different.

Its venom could melt even concrete.

I definitely could not allow it to touch me.

Irene’s enormous blood-red eyes curved in victory.

“Kekeke.”

“It’s over.”
