Chapter 46: Superior Hybrid Rakshasa Pokgwi (2)
“Phoenix Step!”
I had no other choice.
I activated Phoenix Step.
My body vanished with a soft shhk.
BOOOOM! CRACK!
Rakshasa Pokgwi’s Taewoldo and Pokyo-gwi’s Ten-Thousand-Poison Snake-Scorpion Whip struck the place where I had been standing with deafening explosions.
I reappeared on the rooftop of another building.
For now, I hid myself behind the rooftop railing.
“Grrrr... Where did that bastard Inhwang disappear to?”
Rakshasa Pokgwi and Pokyo-gwi looked around in every direction, searching for me.
The Gwanggwi also flew around the area trying to locate me.
While hiding on the rooftop and catching my breath, I realized something.
I couldn’t keep using Phoenix Step and running forever.
Eventually, one of their attacks would hit me.
More importantly, every time I used Phoenix Step, I felt slightly weaker.
Aize, I feel like I’m losing strength whenever I use the Inhwang’s techniques. Is there a reason?
“That’s right.”
Aize answered immediately.
“Just like humans use energy whenever they move, you consume Black Spirit Energy every time you use one of the Inhwang’s techniques.”
“What?!”
I almost shouted aloud.
“So it isn’t free?”
This was bad.
Until now, I had thought Phoenix Step was basically my emergency escape button.
But if it consumed Black Spirit Energy, I needed to conserve it for later.
Rakshasa Pokgwi alone already feels difficult enough.
I carefully looked down.
If Pokyo-gwi and those Gwanggwi join her, won’t this become impossible?
“That’s right.”
Aize sounded serious.
“You might be able to deal with Rakshasa Pokgwi using the Second Form of the Black Spirit Demonic Spear Art, Evil-Annihilating Chain Strike....”
She paused.
“But you already used major techniques like Black Spirit Exploding Fist while fighting Pokyo-gwi.”
“If you try to kill all the remaining evil spirits after that, you may run out of Black Spirit Energy.”
Things were becoming troublesome.
It was like owning a powerful car with a massive engine but having almost no fuel left in the tank.
Should I summon Jeonghu and Mancheon?
If I summoned those two using the Spirit Sovereign Tablet, I could at least solve the numerical disadvantage.
“That sounds like a good idea.”
Aize agreed.
“But don’t forget that summoning Chasa with the Spirit Sovereign Tablet also consumes Black Spirit Energy.”
She quickly added,
“Still, considering your current condition, summoning two people should be fine.”
Got it.
My personal control tower, Aize, had approved.
I immediately acted.
“Spirit Sovereign Tablet! Summon Secret Chasa Captain Jeonghu and Blade Mountain Hell Prison Warden Chasa Mancheon!”
The Spirit Sovereign Tablet floated above my right palm.
Shhhhk.
Two figures began forming in front of me.
One was Jeonghu, captain of the Secret Chasa.
The other was Mancheon, Prison Warden Chasa of Blade Mountain Hell.
“What? Isn’t that the Inhwang?”
“Oh my. Inhwang summoned me again.”
“Yeah. I called you.”
I spoke quickly.
“I need your help for a moment.”
Since they had been suddenly summoned and had no idea what was happening, I quickly explained the situation.
Jeonghu immediately nodded.
“Hmm. Then I will handle Pokyo-gwi.”
I looked at him.
“Confident?”
“A battle can only truly be judged after fighting.”
Jeonghu smiled calmly.
“But yes. I am confident.”
Reliable as always.
Mancheon sighed.
“Then I guess I’m stuck with those four Gwanggwi women.”
I looked at him.
“Confident?”
“No.”
I stared at him.
Maybe summoning Mancheon had been a mistake.
“Should I summon your wife too?”
For Mancheon’s sake, summoning Fallen Heavenly Maiden Ganghae didn’t sound bad.
Even if Mancheon struggled, Ganghae could heal him while he fought.
Four Gwanggwi probably wouldn’t be much of a problem then.
“What are you saying?!”
Mancheon almost jumped.
“No matter how difficult things are, how could I make my wife do something like this?”
Even though Mancheon was a little foolish, he treasured his wife more than anything.
“Fine.”
I turned to Jeonghu.
“Jeonghu, what techniques do you use?”
It seemed wise to check everyone’s fighting power before beginning.
“I inherited my father’s secret art and learned the Chasa Spirit Command Dance.”
Jeonghu opened one hand.
“Come forth, Spirit Command!”
A shining treasured sword emerged from his palm.
Its blade glowed blue.
“This is my family treasure, the Spirit Command Soul-Shattering Sword.”
He gripped it tightly.
“And since I am also a Nahan-class Combat Chasa, I should be able to handle Pokyo-gwi.”
“Good.”
As expected, Jeonghu was reliable.
I turned toward Mancheon.
“What about you?”
“I don’t have some fancy family secret art.”
Mancheon reached inside his clothes.
“I learned the Prison Warden Chasa secret technique, Golden Soul-Binding Chain Art.”
Clatter.
He pulled out a golden chain.
A sharp spearhead was attached to one end.
I stared.
“Is that actually gold?”
“Of course.”
Mancheon sounded proud.
“It is real gold. I’m not some ordinary Chasa. I’m an officer.”
Even if he was an officer, that much gold would have cost a fortune in the living world.
Maybe gold was cheap in the Underworld.
“Most evil spirits can’t move once I tighten this Golden Soul-Binding Chain around them.”
Mancheon scratched his head.
“But four Gwanggwi at the same time might be a little difficult.”
Still unreliable.
“I’ll help Prison Warden Chasa Mancheon while fighting.”
Jeonghu immediately volunteered.
As expected of him.
“Then Mancheon, at least buy us time.”
I pointed toward the enemies below.
“It’ll be annoying if they all attack at once.”
Then I divided the roles.
“I’ll take Rakshasa Pokgwi.”
“You two handle Pokyo-gwi and the four Gwanggwi.”
The plan seemed workable.
“It is an honor to assist the Inhwang.”
Jeonghu looked at me with complete trust.
For some reason, I suddenly felt guilty about how often I had messed with him before.
“Kekekeke.”
A huge voice suddenly echoed.
“So the little rats were hiding up here.”
“Whoa!”
I looked up.
Rakshasa Pokgwi’s gigantic face was looking down at us from above the building.
“Scatter!”
Jeonghu and Mancheon immediately jumped toward the street below, where Pokyo-gwi and the Gwanggwi were waiting.
I leaped in the opposite direction.
“Black Spirit Air-Walking Art! Ascending Dragon Flight!”
My body shot into the sky.
“Grrrr.”
Rakshasa Pokgwi raised the Taewoldo.
“Taewoldo! Moon Flame Slash!”
The enormous blade smashed down.
RUMBLE!
The entire building split in half and began collapsing.
Floating in the air, I looked down.
Jeonghu and Mancheon had already begun fighting Pokyo-gwi and the Gwanggwi.
“Krrr... Who the hell are you? Where did you suddenly come from?”
Pokyo-gwi stared at Jeonghu, who had suddenly landed in front of her.
Her voice sounded like phlegm scraping through her throat.
“I am Jeonghu, captain of the Underworld’s Secret Chasa.”
Jeonghu raised the Spirit Command Soul-Shattering Sword.
“The Inhwang summoned me to deal with you.”
