Chapter 106

Chapter 106. Love Is Always Sweet and Deadly (3)

“Hm?”

As No. 7 walked through the city lost in thought, a strange sensation suddenly shook her.

“What is this?”

She stopped and sharply raised her head.

Then she inhaled as deeply as she could.

There was no mistake.

Something dense and sweet, languid yet stimulating, was constantly drifting toward her on the wind.

No. 7 lifted her nose almost as if hypnotized and followed the scent.

Before long, she became convinced of one thing.

“Something... something is calling me!”

No. 7 leaped in a single bound and landed on top of a building.

She had no time to care about other people seeing her.

She had to answer the call that was awakening something deep inside her instincts.

It almost felt like this was the very reason she had been born into the world.

“Come on, stay a little longer. I told you I’ll give you tons of freebies.”

“Hahaha, sorry. I really have somewhere urgent to go.”

Then an utterly ridiculous scene appeared before her.

She had followed the scent here at full speed.

And there, the man she had been longing to see was caught in another woman’s grasp, laughing and flirting.

He was even wearing a stupid smile he had never once shown No. 7.

The sight made something inside her head flip completely.

“Hah?”

She wanted to overturn everything on the spot.

Still, she desperately gathered what little reason remained and strode forward.

Then she grabbed Yukgap’s arm and asked sharply,

“Honey, who is this woman?”

“Uh...?”

Yukgap froze at her sudden appearance.

His expression clearly said that he had never imagined No. 7 would show up here of all places.

“Oh, you’re married?”

The woman who had been clinging to Yukgap finally released his arm.

“What a shame.”

Her eyes were still full of disappointment.

If No. 7 had not appeared, she looked ready to do something even more outrageous with Yukgap.

Yukgap, meanwhile, stared at No. 7 in confusion.

“Why are you here?”

“Is that really what matters right now?”

No. 7 grabbed his arm and started dragging him away.

“Stop talking and come with me.”

Her strength was so overwhelming that Yukgap could not even properly resist as she hauled him along.

Still, he asked cautiously,

“No. 7... don’t tell me Abraxas is planning something here.”

“So now you’re calling me by my code name instead of my designation?”

She had always been Eta to him when they were together.

Now he was even calling her by the cold, formal code name.

For some reason, the thought made a wave of bitterness rise inside her.

“What’s gotten into you all of a sudden?”

After walking for a while, they finally reached a quiet empty lot.

Only then did Yukgap shake off her arm and question her.

He had no idea why No. 7 had suddenly appeared.

And even less idea why she was angry at him.

No. 7 immediately snapped,

“You seriously don’t know?”

“You’ve gotten pretty good at flirting with women while I haven’t been looking.”

“You looked awfully happy pressed up against that woman back there.”

“Did I interrupt something?”

She looked ready to pounce on Yukgap and bite him.

Yukgap rubbed his increasingly dizzy head and tried to calm her down.

“It’s not what you think.”

“Oh, really?”

No. 7 ignored him.

“I believed you when you said there was nothing going on with that stupid-looking blonde.”

“And now you’re openly going around seducing women?”

“This is exactly why men are hopeless!”

“Or what?”

Her eyes narrowed.

“Were older women your type all along?”

She clearly had no intention of listening to anything he said.

Still, Yukgap desperately tried to keep the situation from getting worse.

“Eta, listen to me.”

“This isn’t what it looks like...”

“Enough!”

“I don’t want to hear it!”

No. 7 sharply cut him off.

“Do you seriously not know what you did wrong?”

Yukgap had merely gone out to deliver a box of chocolate and somehow ended up trapped in this mess.

Being told he had done something wrong only made him more bewildered.

“My fault?”

“What exactly did I do?”

No. 7 froze.

Your fault.

The mistake you made.

The reason you pushed me this far.

There was only one answer.

After reaching her own conclusion, No. 7 pointed straight at Yukgap and shouted,

“You seriously don’t know?”

“That body!”

“That face!”

“Those eyes!”

“Everything about you is seducing women!”

“What kind of insane nonsense is that?!”

Yukgap stared at her in disbelief.

But No. 7 had already made up her mind.

“At first, I was going to stay quiet because Alpha never gave me any orders.”

“But I’ve changed my mind.”

Her eyes lifted slowly.

Then she spoke with a mixture of excitement and resolve.

“A man like you, who steals women’s hearts so easily, shouldn’t be allowed to roam around outside.”

“It makes me so anxious I could go insane!”

“I’m just going to cut off your arms and legs and hide you somewhere only I know!”

Her eyes were filled with a strange madness.

It was exactly the same look all the women who had been clinging to Yukgap had shown him.

Apparently, No. 7 had also been hit hard by the pheromones leaking from the chocolate box.

The problem was that among all the women Yukgap knew, No. 7 was by far the most vicious and dangerous.

“Calm down!”

“I can’t calm down because of you!”

Yukgap pleaded in the faint hope that some shred of reason still remained.

No. 7 did not listen.

She charged forward and slammed down a fist.

“Damn it!”

Yukgap twisted aside just in time.

No. 7 panted excitedly.

“See?”

“Even now you’re giving me that flirtatious look and trying to seduce me!”

“You beast!”

What exactly do I look like to her right now?

More importantly, who was calling whom a beast?

“You look way more like a beast than I do right now!”

No. 7 answered with a growl.

“Every woman lives with a beast hidden somewhere inside her heart.”

Her body suddenly expanded.

Velvety black fur erupted across her skin.

Soon, she discarded her human appearance and transformed into a black jaguar.

Her fluorescent eyes gleamed as she stared at Yukgap.

“Or we can just roll around as actual beasts.”

“You really want to fight me?”

Yukgap refused to back down.

He immediately unleashed his own Archon power.

His skeleton expanded.

Spotted fur spread across his skin.

With a series of cracking sounds, the shape of his head changed until a full beastly form emerged over his human frame.

“Grrrrrr.”

Yukgap, transformed into his cheetah form, growled low.

No. 7 snorted.

“That’s more like it!”

She sprang forward.

Yukgap skillfully dodged her first strike and warned her,

“If we make too much noise out here, Abraxas won’t ignore it.”

“Is that really important right now?”

No. 7 snarled.

“Why are you talking about other people when you’re with me?”

Apparently, no reason remained in her at all.

She roared,

“Focus on me!”

Her attacks rained down on Yukgap.

Her claws carved silver arcs through the air again and again.

Every strike was strong enough to tear flesh and break bone.

“Ghk!”

Yukgap swallowed a groan and defended himself with difficulty.

Even with his acceleration ability, there was a limit to how many of No. 7’s attacks he could dodge when she made virtually no sound or presence at all.

Sure enough, several claws grazed him, leaving shallow cuts across his arms and legs.

No. 7 licked her lips.

“Come on!”

“Fight like you used to during training!”

“We had so much fun back then!”

Yukgap stared at her in disbelief.

“Fun?”

“You beat the hell out of me one-sidedly every single day!”

“So what?”

No. 7 shouted.

“Women are naturally mean to men they’re interested in!”

Apparently, there was no way to reason with her right now.

Yukgap clicked his tongue while clutching the chocolate box he was supposed to deliver.

“I just came out to make one delivery.”

“How did I end up going through all this?”

No. 7 continued closing the distance while breathing heavily.

All Yukgap could sense from her was an indescribably intense desire.

“Don’t worry.”

“I won’t kill you.”

“I’ll just cut off your arms and legs, shove a feeding tube down your throat so you can never die or escape, and make sure you spend the rest of your life with only me.”

“Like hell I will!”

Yukgap jumped backward.

Then he launched himself toward the city.

No. 7 immediately noticed something was wrong.

“Where are you going?”

“I can’t beat you anyway.”

Yukgap shouted back.

“So I’m going to do what I’m good at.”

No. 7’s eyes widened.

“Don’t tell me...”

“Exactly!”

Yukgap knew perfectly well that he could not defeat No. 7.

If he stayed and dragged the fight out, the commotion would only grow.

And if innocent people got caught up in it, things would become even worse.

There was only one answer.

“I’m running away!”

“Bye!”

Yukgap turned around and sprinted with everything he had.

He pushed his acceleration to the limit.

His body became little more than an afterimage as he rapidly disappeared from No. 7’s sight.

“Where do you think you’re going?!”

No. 7 tried to chase him.

It was useless.

Yukgap was the fastest of all Twelve Archons.

When it came to pursuit and escape, no one could match him.

“Hahahaha!”

Yukgap knew that better than anyone and laughed as he mocked her.

“Catch me if you can!”

No. 7’s enraged roar echoed behind him.

Yukgap ignored it.

For now, getting away from her was the only thing that mattered.

“This is the place.”

After racing through the forest of buildings, Yukgap finally reached his destination.

This was where the customer responsible for today’s entire disaster was located.

Yukgap quickly released his beast form before anyone could see him.

“Haaah... I’m exhausted.”

He stared at the box in his hands.

“Let’s just hand this thing over and get out of here.”

At this point, all he wanted was to get rid of the cursed object as quickly as possible.
